1. And they journeyed from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the Wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they departed from the land of Egypt. 2. Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. 3. And the children of Israel said to them, "Oh, that we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger." 4. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not. 5. "And it shall be on the sixth day that they shall prepare what they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily." 6. Then Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, "At evening you shall know that the LORD has brought you out of the land of Egypt. 7. "And in the morning you shall see the glory of the LORD; for He hears your complaints against the LORD. But what are we, that you complain against us?" 8. Also Moses said, " This shall be seen when the LORD gives you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to the full; for the LORD hears your complaints which you make against Him. And what are we? Your complaints are not against us but against the LORD." 9. Then Moses spoke to Aaron, "Say to all the congregation of the children of Israel, ‘Come near before the LORD, for He has heard your complaints.’" 10. Now it came to pass, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud. 11. And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 12. "I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. And you shall know that I am the LORD your God.’" 13. So it was that quails came up at evening and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew lay all around the camp. 14. And when the layer of dew lifted, there, on the surface of the wilderness, was a small round substance, as fine as frost on the ground. 15. So when the children of Israel saw it , they said to one another, "What is it?" For they did not know what it was . And Moses said to them, "This is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat. 16. "This is the thing which the LORD has commanded: ‘Let every man gather it according to each one’s need, one omer for each person, according to the number of persons; let every man take for those who are in his tent.’" 17. Then the children of Israel did so and gathered, some more, some less. 18. So when they measured it by omers, he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack. Every man had gathered according to each one’s need. 19. And Moses said, "Let no one leave any of it till morning." 20. Notwithstanding they did not heed Moses. But some of them left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and stank. And Moses was angry with them. 21. So they gathered it every morning, every man according to his need. And when the sun became hot, it melted. 22. And so it was, on the sixth day, that they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one. And all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. 23. Then he said to them, "This is what the LORD has said: ‘Tomorrow is a Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to the LORD. Bake what you will bake today , and boil what you will boil; and lay up for yourselves all that remains, to be kept until morning.’" 24. So they laid it up till morning, as Moses commanded; and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it. 25. Then Moses said, "Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to the LORD; today you will not find it in the field. 26. "Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath, there will be none." 27. Now it happened that some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather, but they found none. 28. And the LORD said to Moses, "How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My laws? 29. "See! For the LORD has given you the Sabbath; therefore He gives you on the sixth day bread for two days. Let every man remain in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day." 30. So the people rested on the seventh day. 31. And the house of Israel called its name Manna. And it was like white coriander seed, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey. 32. Then Moses said, "This is the thing which the LORD has commanded: ‘Fill an omer with it, to be kept for your generations, that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’" 33. And Moses said to Aaron, "Take a pot and put an omer of manna in it, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations." 34. As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept. 35. And the children of Israel ate manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they ate manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan. 36. Now an omer is one–tenth of an ephah.
1. Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. 4. The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 5. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
1. Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? 2. The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying , 3. "Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us." 4. He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision. 5. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure: 6. "Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion." 7. "I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. 8. Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession. 9. You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’" 10. Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. 11. Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling. 12. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
1. <> LORD, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. 0. 2Many are they who say of me, " There is no help for him in God." Selah 3. But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. 4. I cried to the LORD with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah 5. I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustained me. 6. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me all around. 7. Arise, O LORD; Save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly. 8. Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah
1. <> Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer. 2. How long, O you sons of men, Will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness And seek falsehood? Selah 3. But know that the LORD has set apart for Himself him who is godly; The LORD will hear when I call to Him. 4. Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah 5. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the LORD. 6. There are many who say, "Who will show us any good?" LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. 7. You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased. 8. I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
1. But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. 2. And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it , and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. 3. But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? 4. "While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God." 5. Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things. 6. And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him . 7. Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8. And Peter answered her, "Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?" She said, "Yes, for so much." 9. Then Peter said to her, "How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out." 10. Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband. 11. So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things. 12. And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch. 13. Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly. 14. And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, 15. so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. 16. Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed. 17. Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with indignation, 18. and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison. 19. But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, 20. "Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life." 21. And when they heard that , they entered the temple early in the morning and taught. But the high priest and those with him came and called the council together, with all the elders of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought. 22. But when the officers came and did not find them in the prison, they returned and reported, 23. saying, "Indeed we found the prison shut securely, and the guards standing outside before the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside!" 24. Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they wondered what the outcome would be. 25. So one came and told them, saying, "Look, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people!"
