KEL 21

1.   "Now these are the judgments which you shall set before them: 2.   "If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years; and in the seventh he shall go out free and pay nothing. 3.   "If he comes in by himself, he shall go out by himself; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. 4.   "If his master has given him a wife, and she has borne him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself. 5.   "But if the servant plainly says, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,’ 6.   "then his master shall bring him to the judges. He shall also bring him to the door, or to the doorpost, and his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him forever. 7.   "And if a man sells his daughter to be a female slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do. 8.   "If she does not please her master, who has betrothed her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt deceitfully with her. 9.   "And if he has betrothed her to his son, he shall deal with her according to the custom of daughters. 10.   "If he takes another wife , he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her marriage rights. 11.   "And if he does not do these three for her, then she shall go out free, without paying money. 12.   "He who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death. 13.   "However, if he did not lie in wait, but God delivered him into his hand, then I will appoint for you a place where he may flee. 14.   "But if a man acts with premeditation against his neighbor, to kill him by treachery, you shall take him from My altar, that he may die. 15.   "And he who strikes his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. 16.   "He who kidnaps a man and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, shall surely be put to death. 17.   "And he who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. 18.   "If men contend with each other, and one strikes the other with a stone or with his fist, and he does not die but is confined to his bed, 19.   "if he rises again and walks about outside with his staff, then he who struck him shall be acquitted. He shall only pay for the loss of his time, and shall provide for him to be thoroughly healed. 20.   "And if a man beats his male or female servant with a rod, so that he dies under his hand, he shall surely be punished. 21.   "Notwithstanding, if he remains alive a day or two, he shall not be punished; for he is his property. 22.   "If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she gives birth prematurely, yet no harm follows, he shall surely be punished accordingly as the woman’s husband imposes on him; and he shall pay as the judges determine . 23.   "But if any harm follows, then you shall give life for life, 24.   "eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25.   "burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. 26.   "If a man strikes the eye of his male or female servant, and destroys it, he shall let him go free for the sake of his eye. 27.   "And if he knocks out the tooth of his male or female servant, he shall let him go free for the sake of his tooth. 28.   "If an ox gores a man or a woman to death, then the ox shall surely be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be acquitted. 29.   "But if the ox tended to thrust with its horn in times past, and it has been made known to his owner, and he has not kept it confined, so that it has killed a man or a woman, the ox shall be stoned and its owner also shall be put to death. 30.   "If there is imposed on him a sum of money, then he shall pay to redeem his life, whatever is imposed on him. 31.   "Whether it has gored a son or gored a daughter, according to this judgment it shall be done to him. 32.   "If the ox gores a male or female servant, he shall give to their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned. 33.   "And if a man opens a pit, or if a man digs a pit and does not cover it, and an ox or a donkey falls in it, 34.   "the owner of the pit shall make it good; he shall give money to their owner, but the dead animal shall be his. 35.   "If one man’s ox hurts another’s, so that it dies, then they shall sell the live ox and divide the money from it; and the dead ox they shall also divide. 36.   "Or if it was known that the ox tended to thrust in time past, and its owner has not kept it confined, he shall surely pay ox for ox, and the dead animal shall be his own.

MZM 18

1.   < A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD, who spoke to the LORD the words of this song on the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said:>> I will love You, O LORD, my strength. 2.   The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 3.   I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies. 4.   The pangs of death surrounded me, And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid. 5.   The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me. 6.   In my distress I called upon the LORD, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears. 7.   Then the earth shook and trembled; The foundations of the hills also quaked and were shaken, Because He was angry. 8.   Smoke went up from His nostrils, And devouring fire from His mouth; Coals were kindled by it. 9.   He bowed the heavens also, and came down With darkness under His feet. 10.   And He rode upon a cherub, and flew; He flew upon the wings of the wind. 11.   He made darkness His secret place; His canopy around Him was dark waters And thick clouds of the skies. 12.   From the brightness before Him, His thick clouds passed with hailstones and coals of fire. 13.   The LORD thundered from heaven, And the Most High uttered His voice, Hailstones and coals of fire. 14.   He sent out His arrows and scattered the foe, Lightnings in abundance, and He vanquished them. 15.   Then the channels of the sea were seen, The foundations of the world were uncovered At Your rebuke, O LORD, At the blast of the breath of Your nostrils. 16.   He sent from above, He took me; He drew me out of many waters. 17.   He delivered me from my strong enemy, From those who hated me, For they were too strong for me. 18.   They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the LORD was my support. 19.   He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me. 20.   The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me. 21.   For I have kept the ways of the LORD, And have not wickedly departed from my God. 22.   For all His judgments were before me, And I did not put away His statutes from me. 23.   I was also blameless before Him, And I kept myself from my iniquity. 24.   Therefore the LORD has recompensed me according to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands in His sight. 25.   With the merciful You will show Yourself merciful; With a blameless man You will show Yourself blameless; 26.   With the pure You will show Yourself pure; And with the devious You will show Yourself shrewd. 27.   For You will save the humble people, But will bring down haughty looks. 28.   For You will light my lamp; The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. 29.   For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall. 30.   As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. 31.   For who is God, except the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God? 32.   It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect. 33.   He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places. 34.   He teaches my hands to make war, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. 35.   You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great. 36.   You enlarged my path under me, So my feet did not slip. 37.   I have pursued my enemies and overtaken them; Neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed. 38.   I have wounded them, So that they could not rise; They have fallen under my feet. 39.   For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me. 40.   You have also given me the necks of my enemies, So that I destroyed those who hated me. 41.   They cried out, but there was none to save; Even to the LORD, but He did not answer them. 42.   Then I beat them as fine as the dust before the wind; I cast them out like dirt in the streets. 43.   You have delivered me from the strivings of the people; You have made me the head of the nations; A people I have not known shall serve me. 44.   As soon as they hear of me they obey me; The foreigners submit to me. 45.   The foreigners fade away, And come frightened from their hideouts. 46.   The LORD lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let the God of my salvation be exalted. 47.   It is God who avenges me, And subdues the peoples under me; 48.   He delivers me from my enemies. You also lift me up above those who rise against me; You have delivered me from the violent man. 49.   Therefore I will give thanks to You, O LORD, among the Gentiles, And sing praises to Your name. 50.   Great deliverance He gives to His king, And shows mercy to His anointed, To David and his descendants forevermore.

1.   <> The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. 2.   Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. 3.   There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. 4.   Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun, 5.   Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race. 6.   Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat. 7.   The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; 8.   The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9.   The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10.   More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11.   Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward. 12.   Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults . 13.   Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins ; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression. 14.   Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.

KIS 7 35-60

35.   "This Moses whom they rejected, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?’ is the one God sent to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the Angel who appeared to him in the bush. 36.   "He brought them out, after he had shown wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years. 37.   "This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, ‘The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear.’ 38.   "This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, the one who received the living oracles to give to us, 39.   "whom our fathers would not obey, but rejected. And in their hearts they turned back to Egypt, 40.   "saying to Aaron, ‘Make us gods to go before us; as for this Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’ 41.   "And they made a calf in those days, offered sacrifices to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands. 42.   "Then God turned and gave them up to worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the Prophets: ‘Did you offer Me slaughtered animals and sacrifices during forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel? 43.   You also took up the tabernacle of Moloch, And the star of your god Remphan, Images which you made to worship; And I will carry you away beyond Babylon.’ 44.   "Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as He appointed, instructing Moses to make it according to the pattern that he had seen, 45.   "which our fathers, having received it in turn, also brought with Joshua into the land possessed by the Gentiles, whom God drove out before the face of our fathers until the days of David, 46.   "who found favor before God and asked to find a dwelling for the God of Jacob. 47.   "But Solomon built Him a house. 48.   "However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says: 49.   ‘Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. What house will you build for Me? says the LORD, Or what is the place of My rest? 50.   Has My hand not made all these things?’ 51.   " You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did , so do you. 52.   "Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers, 53.   "who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it ." 54.   When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth. 55.   But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, 56.   and said, "Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!" 57.   Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; 58.   and they cast him out of the city and stoned him . And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59.   And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." 60.   Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin." And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
