BIL 8

1.   And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 2.   "Speak to Aaron, and say to him, ‘When you arrange the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand.’" 3.   And Aaron did so; he arranged the lamps to face toward the front of the lampstand, as the LORD commanded Moses. 4.   Now this workmanship of the lampstand was hammered gold; from its shaft to its flowers it was hammered work. According to the pattern which the LORD had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand. 5.   Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 6.   "Take the Levites from among the children of Israel and cleanse them ceremonially . 7.   "Thus you shall do to them to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purification on them, and let them shave all their body, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean. 8.   "Then let them take a young bull with its grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, and you shall take another young bull as a sin offering. 9.   "And you shall bring the Levites before the tabernacle of meeting, and you shall gather together the whole congregation of the children of Israel. 10.   "So you shall bring the Levites before the LORD, and the children of Israel shall lay their hands on the Levites; 11.   "and Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD, like a wave offering from the children of Israel, that they may perform the work of the LORD. 12.   "Then the Levites shall lay their hands on the heads of the young bulls, and you shall offer one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering to the LORD, to make atonement for the Levites. 13.   "And you shall stand the Levites before Aaron and his sons, and then offer them like a wave offering to the LORD. 14.   "Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be Mine. 15.   "After that the Levites shall go in to service the tabernacle of meeting. So you shall cleanse them and offer them, like a wave offering. 16.   "For they are wholly given to Me from among the children of Israel; I have taken them for Myself instead of all who open the womb, the firstborn of all the children of Israel. 17.   "For all the firstborn among the children of Israel are Mine, both man and beast; on the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them to Myself. 18.   "I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn of the children of Israel. 19.   "And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the work for the children of Israel in the tabernacle of meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel, that there be no plague among the children of Israel when the children of Israel come near the sanctuary." 20.   Thus Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel did to the Levites; according to all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so the children of Israel did to them. 21.   And the Levites purified themselves and washed their clothes; then Aaron presented them, like a wave offering before the LORD, and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them. 22.   After that the Levites went in to do their work in the tabernacle of meeting before Aaron and his sons; as the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them. 23.   Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 24.   "This is what pertains to the Levites: From twenty–five years old and above one may enter to perform service in the work of the tabernacle of meeting; 25.   "and at the age of fifty years they must cease performing this work, and shall work no more. 26.   "They may minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of meeting, to attend to needs, but they themselves shall do no work. Thus you shall do to the Levites regarding their duties."

65.   TETH. You have dealt well with Your servant, O LORD, according to Your word. 66.   Teach me good judgment and knowledge, For I believe Your commandments. 67.   Before I was afflicted I went astray, But now I keep Your word. 68.   You are good, and do good; Teach me Your statutes. 69.   The proud have forged a lie against me, But I will keep Your precepts with my whole heart. 70.   Their heart is as fat as grease, But I delight in Your law. 71.   It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I may learn Your statutes. 72.   The law of Your mouth is better to me Than thousands of coins of gold and silver. 73.   YOD. Your hands have made me and fashioned me; Give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments. 74.   Those who fear You will be glad when they see me, Because I have hoped in Your word. 75.   I know, O LORD, that Your judgments are right, And that in faithfulness You have afflicted me. 76.   Let, I pray, Your merciful kindness be for my comfort, According to Your word to Your servant. 77.   Let Your tender mercies come to me, that I may live; For Your law is my delight. 78.   Let the proud be ashamed, For they treated me wrongfully with falsehood; But I will meditate on Your precepts. 79.   Let those who fear You turn to me, Those who know Your testimonies. 80.   Let my heart be blameless regarding Your statutes, That I may not be ashamed. 81.   KAPH. My soul faints for Your salvation, But I hope in Your word. 82.   My eyes fail from searching Your word, Saying, "When will You comfort me?" 83.   For I have become like a wineskin in smoke, Yet I do not forget Your statutes. 84.   How many are the days of Your servant? When will You execute judgment on those who persecute me? 85.   The proud have dug pits for me, Which is not according to Your law. 86.   All Your commandments are faithful; They persecute me wrongfully; Help me! 87.   They almost made an end of me on earth, But I did not forsake Your precepts. 88.   Revive me according to Your lovingkindness, So that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth. 89.   LAMED. Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven. 90.   Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides. 91.   They continue this day according to Your ordinances, For all are Your servants. 92.   Unless Your law had been my delight, I would then have perished in my affliction. 93.   I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have given me life. 94.   I am Yours, save me; For I have sought Your precepts. 95.   The wicked wait for me to destroy me, But I will consider Your testimonies. 96.   I have seen the consummation of all perfection, But Your commandment is exceedingly broad. 97.   MEM. Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. 98.   You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me. 99.   I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation. 100.   I understand more than the ancients, Because I keep Your precepts. 101.   I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I may keep Your word. 102.   I have not departed from Your judgments, For You Yourself have taught me. 103.   How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104.   Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. 105.   NUN. Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. 106.   I have sworn and confirmed That I will keep Your righteous judgments. 107.   I am afflicted very much; Revive me, O LORD, according to Your word. 108.   Accept, I pray, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, And teach me Your judgments. 109.   My life is continually in my hand, Yet I do not forget Your law. 110.   The wicked have laid a snare for me, Yet I have not strayed from Your precepts. 111.   Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever, For they are the rejoicing of my heart. 112.   I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes Forever, to the very end. 113.   SAMEK. I hate the double–minded, But I love Your law. 114.   You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word. 115.   Depart from me, you evildoers, For I will keep the commandments of my God! 116.   Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live; And do not let me be ashamed of my hope. 117.   Hold me up, and I shall be safe, And I shall observe Your statutes continually. 118.   You reject all those who stray from Your statutes, For their deceit is falsehood. 119.   You put away all the wicked of the earth like dross; Therefore I love Your testimonies. 120.   My flesh trembles for fear of You, And I am afraid of Your judgments.

1.   I commend to you Phoebe our sister, who is a servant of the church in Cenchrea, 2.   that you may receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and assist her in whatever business she has need of you; for indeed she has been a helper of many and of myself also. 3.   Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, 4.   who risked their own necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. 5.   Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia to Christ. 6.   Greet Mary, who labored much for us. 7.   Greet Andronicus and Junia, my countrymen and my fellow prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me. 8.   Greet Amplias, my beloved in the Lord. 9.   Greet Urbanus, our fellow worker in Christ, and Stachys, my beloved. 10.   Greet Apelles, approved in Christ. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. 20.   And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. 21.   Timothy, my fellow worker, and Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater, my countrymen, greet you. 22.   I, Tertius, who wrote this epistle, greet you in the Lord. 23.   Gaius, my host and the host of the whole church, greets you. Amen. 25.   Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began 26.   but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith–– 27.   to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.
