UL 7

1.   "When the LORD your God brings you into the land which you go to possess, and has cast out many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you, 2.   "and when the LORD your God delivers them over to you, you shall conquer them and utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them. 3.   "Nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to their son, nor take their daughter for your son. 4.   "For they will turn your sons away from following Me, to serve other gods; so the anger of the LORD will be aroused against you and destroy you suddenly. 5.   "But thus you shall deal with them: you shall destroy their altars, and break down their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images, and burn their carved images with fire. 6.   "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. 7.   "The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; 8.   "but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9.   "Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; 10.   "and He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack with him who hates Him; He will repay him to his face. 11.   "Therefore you shall keep the commandment, the statutes, and the judgments which I command you today, to observe them. 12.   "Then it shall come to pass, because you listen to these judgments, and keep and do them, that the LORD your God will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers. 13.   "And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He swore to your fathers to give you. 14.   "You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be a male or female barren among you or among your livestock. 15.   "And the LORD will take away from you all sickness, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt which you have known, but will lay them on all those who hate you. 16.   "And you shall destroy all the peoples whom the LORD your God delivers over to you; your eye shall have no pity on them; nor shall you serve their gods, for that will be a snare to you. 17.   "If you should say in your heart, ‘These nations are greater than I; how can I dispossess them?’ –– 18.   "you shall not be afraid of them, but you shall remember well what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt: 19.   "the great trials which your eyes saw, the signs and the wonders, the mighty hand and the outstretched arm, by which the LORD your God brought you out. So shall the LORD your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid. 20.   "Moreover the LORD your God will send the hornet among them until those who are left, who hide themselves from you, are destroyed. 21.   "You shall not be terrified of them; for the LORD your God, the great and awesome God, is among you. 22.   "And the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you little by little; you will be unable to destroy them at once, lest the beasts of the field become too numerous for you. 23.   "But the LORD your God will deliver them over to you, and will inflict defeat upon them until they are destroyed. 24.   "And He will deliver their kings into your hand, and you will destroy their name from under heaven; no one shall be able to stand against you until you have destroyed them. 25.   "You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fire; you shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, lest you be snared by it; for it is an abomination to the LORD your God. 26.   "Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing.

1.   The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, his utterance. This man declared to Ithiel––to Ithiel and Ucal: 2.   Surely I am more stupid than any man, And do not have the understanding of a man. 3.   I neither learned wisdom Nor have knowledge of the Holy One. 4.   Who has ascended into heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, If you know? 5.   Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. 6.   Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar. 7.   Two things I request of You (Deprive me not before I die): 8.   Remove falsehood and lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches––Feed me with the food allotted to me; 9.   Lest I be full and deny You , And say, "Who is the LORD?" Or lest I be poor and steal, And profane the name of my God. 10.   Do not malign a servant to his master, Lest he curse you, and you be found guilty. 11.   There is a generation that curses its father, And does not bless its mother. 12.   There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes, Yet is not washed from its filthiness. 13.   There is a generation––oh, how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up. 14.   There is a generation whose teeth are like swords, And whose fangs are like knives, To devour the poor from off the earth, And the needy from among men. 15.   The leech has two daughters––Give and Give! There are three things that are never satisfied, Four never say, "Enough!": 16.   The grave, The barren womb, The earth that is not satisfied with water––And the fire never says, "Enough!" 17.   The eye that mocks his father, And scorns obedience to his mother, The ravens of the valley will pick it out, And the young eagles will eat it. 18.   There are three things which are too wonderful for me, Yes, four which I do not understand: 19.   The way of an eagle in the air, The way of a serpent on a rock, The way of a ship in the midst of the sea, And the way of a man with a virgin. 20.   This is the way of an adulterous woman: She eats and wipes her mouth, And says, "I have done no wickedness." 21.   For three things the earth is perturbed, Yes, for four it cannot bear up: 22.   For a servant when he reigns, A fool when he is filled with food, 23.   A hateful woman when she is married, And a maidservant who succeeds her mistress. 24.   There are four things which are little on the earth, But they are exceedingly wise: 25.   The ants are a people not strong, Yet they prepare their food in the summer; 26.   The rock badgers are a feeble folk, Yet they make their homes in the crags; 27.   The locusts have no king, Yet they all advance in ranks; 28.   The spider skillfully grasps with its hands, And it is in kings’ palaces. 29.   There are three things which are majestic in pace, Yes, four which are stately in walk: 30.   A lion, which is mighty among beasts And does not turn away from any; 31.   A greyhound, A male goat also, And a king whose troops are with him. 32.   If you have been foolish in exalting yourself, Or if you have devised evil, put your hand on your mouth. 33.   For as the churning of milk produces butter, And wringing the nose produces blood, So the forcing of wrath produces strife.

2KOR 11 16-33

16.   I say again, let no one think me a fool. If otherwise, at least receive me as a fool, that I also may boast a little. 17.   What I speak, I speak not according to the Lord, but as it were, foolishly, in this confidence of boasting. 18.   Seeing that many boast according to the flesh, I also will boast. 19.   For you put up with fools gladly, since you yourselves are wise! 20.   For you put up with it if one brings you into bondage, if one devours you , if one takes from you , if one exalts himself, if one strikes you on the face. 21.   To our shame, I say that we were too weak for that! But in whatever anyone is bold––I speak foolishly––I am bold also. 22.   Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I. 23.   Are they ministers of Christ? ––I speak as a fool––I am more: in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often. 24.   From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. 25.   Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; 26.   in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; 27.   in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness–– 28.   besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches. 29.   Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to stumble, and I do not burn with indignation? 30.   If I must boast, I will boast in the things which concern my infirmity. 31.   The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying. 32.   In Damascus the governor, under Aretas the king, was guarding the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desiring to arrest me; 33.   but I was let down in a basket through a window in the wall, and escaped from his hands.
