YOS 7
YES 23
MRK 14:26-52

YOS 7

1.   But the children of Israel committed a trespass regarding the accursed things, for Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed things; so the anger of the LORD burned against the children of Israel. 2.   Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, "Go up and spy out the country." So the men went up and spied out Ai. 3.   And they returned to Joshua and said to him, "Do not let all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and attack Ai. Do not weary all the people there, for the people of Ai are few." 4.   So about three thousand men went up there from the people, but they fled before the men of Ai. 5.   And the men of Ai struck down about thirty–six men, for they chased them from before the gate as far as Shebarim, and struck them down on the descent; therefore the hearts of the people melted and became like water. 6.   Then Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the LORD until evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads. 7.   And Joshua said, "Alas, Lord GOD, why have You brought this people over the Jordan at all––to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Oh, that we had been content, and dwelt on the other side of the Jordan! 8.   "O Lord, what shall I say when Israel turns its back before its enemies? 9.   "For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear it , and surround us, and cut off our name from the earth. Then what will You do for Your great name?" 10.   So the LORD said to Joshua: "Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face? 11.   "Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff. 12.   "Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they have become doomed to destruction. Neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the accursed from among you. 13.   "Get up, sanctify the people, and say, ‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, because thus says the LORD God of Israel: " There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you." 14.   ‘In the morning therefore you shall be brought according to your tribes. And it shall be that the tribe which the LORD takes shall come according to families; and the family which the LORD takes shall come by households; and the household which the LORD takes shall come man by man. 15.   ‘Then it shall be that he who is taken with the accursed thing shall be burned with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he has done a disgraceful thing in Israel.’" 16.   So Joshua rose early in the morning and brought Israel by their tribes, and the tribe of Judah was taken. 17.   He brought the clan of Judah, and he took the family of the Zarhites; and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man, and Zabdi was taken. 18.   Then he brought his household man by man, and Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken. 19.   Now Joshua said to Achan, "My son, I beg you, give glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession to Him, and tell me now what you have done; do not hide it from me." 20.   And Achan answered Joshua and said, "Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and this is what I have done: 21.   "When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. And there they are, hidden in the earth in the midst of my tent, with the silver under it." 22.   So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver under it. 23.   And they took them from the midst of the tent, brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD. 24.   Then Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the garment, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had, and they brought them to the Valley of Achor. 25.   And Joshua said, "Why have you troubled us? The LORD will trouble you this day." So all Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones. 26.   Then they raised over him a great heap of stones, still there to this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of His anger. Therefore the name of that place has been called the Valley of Achor to this day.

YES 23

1.   The burden against Tyre. Wail, you ships of Tarshish! For it is laid waste, So that there is no house, no harbor; From the land of Cyprus it is revealed to them. 2.   Be still, you inhabitants of the coastland, You merchants of Sidon, Whom those who cross the sea have filled. 3.   And on great waters the grain of Shihor, The harvest of the River, is her revenue; And she is a marketplace for the nations. 4.   Be ashamed, O Sidon; For the sea has spoken, The strength of the sea, saying, "I do not labor, nor bring forth children; Neither do I rear young men, Nor bring up virgins." 5.   When the report reaches Egypt, They also will be in agony at the report of Tyre. 6.   Cross over to Tarshish; Wail, you inhabitants of the coastland! 7.   Is this your joyous city , Whose antiquity is from ancient days, Whose feet carried her far off to dwell? 8.   Who has taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city , Whose merchants are princes, Whose traders are the honorable of the earth? 9.   The LORD of hosts has purposed it, To bring to dishonor the pride of all glory, To bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth. 10.   Overflow through your land like the River, O daughter of Tarshish; There is no more strength. 11.   He stretched out His hand over the sea, He shook the kingdoms; The LORD has given a commandment against Canaan To destroy its strongholds. 12.   And He said, "You will rejoice no more, O you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, cross over to Cyprus; There also you will have no rest." 13.   Behold, the land of the Chaldeans, This people which was not; Assyria founded it for wild beasts of the desert. They set up its towers, They raised up its palaces, And brought it to ruin. 14.   Wail, you ships of Tarshish! For your strength is laid waste. 15.   Now it shall come to pass in that day that Tyre will be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. At the end of seventy years it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the harlot: 16.   "Take a harp, go about the city, You forgotten harlot; Make sweet melody, sing many songs, That you may be remembered." 17.   And it shall be, at the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre. She will return to her hire, and commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth. 18.   Her gain and her pay will be set apart for the LORD; it will not be treasured nor laid up, for her gain will be for those who dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for fine clothing.

MRK 14 26-52

26.   And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. 27.   Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep will be scattered.’ 28.   "But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee." 29.   Peter said to Him, "Even if all are made to stumble, yet I will not be ." 30.   Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." 31.   But he spoke more vehemently, "If I have to die with You, I will not deny You!" And they all said likewise. 32.   Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, "Sit here while I pray." 33.   And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed. 34.   Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch." 35.   He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. 36.   And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will ." 37.   Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour? 38.   "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." 39.   Again He went away and prayed, and spoke the same words. 40.   And when He returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him. 41.   Then He came the third time and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 42.   "Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand." 43.   And immediately, while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. 44.   Now His betrayer had given them a signal, saying, "Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him and lead Him away safely." 45.   As soon as He had come, immediately he went up to Him and said to Him, "Rabbi, Rabbi!" and kissed Him. 46.   Then they laid their hands on Him and took Him. 47.   And one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. 48.   Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take Me? 49.   "I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled." 50.   Then they all forsook Him and fled. 51.   Now a certain young man followed Him, having a linen cloth thrown around his naked body . And the young men laid hold of him, 52.   and he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked.
