King James Version

MZM 79-80
LUK 2:1-20

MZM 79

1.   <> O God, the nations have come into Your inheritance; Your holy temple they have defiled; They have laid Jerusalem in heaps. 0.   2The dead bodies of Your servants They have given as food for the birds of the heavens, The flesh of Your saints to the beasts of the earth. 3.   Their blood they have shed like water all around Jerusalem, And there was no one to bury them . 4.   We have become a reproach to our neighbors, A scorn and derision to those who are around us. 5.   How long, LORD? Will You be angry forever? Will Your jealousy burn like fire? 6.   Pour out Your wrath on the nations that do not know You, And on the kingdoms that do not call on Your name. 7.   For they have devoured Jacob, And laid waste his dwelling place. 8.   Oh, do not remember former iniquities against us! Let Your tender mercies come speedily to meet us, For we have been brought very low. 9.   Help us, O God of our salvation, For the glory of Your name; And deliver us, and provide atonement for our sins, For Your name’s sake! 10.   Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" Let there be known among the nations in our sight The avenging of the blood of Your servants which has been shed. 11.   Let the groaning of the prisoner come before You; According to the greatness of Your power Preserve those who are appointed to die; 12.   And return to our neighbors sevenfold into their bosom Their reproach with which they have reproached You, O Lord. 13.   So we, Your people and sheep of Your pasture, Will give You thanks forever; We will show forth Your praise to all generations.

MZM 80

1.   <> Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who dwell between the cherubim, shine forth! 2.   Before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, Stir up Your strength, And come and save us! 3.   Restore us, O God; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved! 4.   O LORD God of hosts, How long will You be angry Against the prayer of Your people? 5.   You have fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in great measure. 6.   You have made us a strife to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh among themselves. 7.   Restore us, O God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved! 8.   You have brought a vine out of Egypt; You have cast out the nations, and planted it. 9.   You prepared room for it, And caused it to take deep root, And it filled the land. 10.   The hills were covered with its shadow, And the mighty cedars with its boughs. 11.   She sent out her boughs to the Sea, And her branches to the River. 12.   Why have You broken down her hedges, So that all who pass by the way pluck her fruit ? 13.   The boar out of the woods uproots it, And the wild beast of the field devours it. 14.   Return, we beseech You, O God of hosts; Look down from heaven and see, And visit this vine 15.   And the vineyard which Your right hand has planted, And the branch that You made strong for Yourself. 16.   It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance. 17.   Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself. 18.   Then we will not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name. 19.   Restore us, O LORD God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved!

LUK 2 1-20

1.   And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2.   This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. 3.   So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. 4.   Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5.   to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6.   So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. 7.   And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. 8.   Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9.   And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10.   Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11.   "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12.   "And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger." 13.   And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14.   "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" 15.   So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us." 16.   And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. 17.   Now when they had seen Him , they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. 18.   And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19.   But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20.   Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.
