King James Version

YER 1
1TIM 6

1SAM 2

1.   And Hannah prayed and said: "My heart rejoices in the LORD; My horn is exalted in the LORD. I smile at my enemies, Because I rejoice in Your salvation. 2.   "No one is holy like the LORD, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God. 3.   "Talk no more so very proudly; Let no arrogance come from your mouth, For the LORD is the God of knowledge; And by Him actions are weighed. 4.   "The bows of the mighty men are broken, And those who stumbled are girded with strength. 5.   Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread, And the hungry have ceased to hunger . Even the barren has borne seven, And she who has many children has become feeble. 6.   "The LORD kills and makes alive; He brings down to the grave and brings up. 7.   The LORD makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and lifts up. 8.   He raises the poor from the dust And lifts the beggar from the ash heap, To set them among princes And make them inherit the throne of glory. "For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, And He has set the world upon them. 9.   He will guard the feet of His saints, But the wicked shall be silent in darkness. "For by strength no man shall prevail. 10.   The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken in pieces; From heaven He will thunder against them. The LORD will judge the ends of the earth. "He will give strength to His king, And exalt the horn of His anointed." 11.   Then Elkanah went to his house at Ramah. But the child ministered to the LORD before Eli the priest. 12.   Now the sons of Eli were corrupt; they did not know the LORD. 13.   And the priests’ custom with the people was that when any man offered a sacrifice, the priest’s servant would come with a three–pronged fleshhook in his hand while the meat was boiling. 14.   Then he would thrust it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; and the priest would take for himself all that the fleshhook brought up. So they did in Shiloh to all the Israelites who came there. 15.   Also, before they burned the fat, the priest’s servant would come and say to the man who sacrificed, "Give meat for roasting to the priest, for he will not take boiled meat from you, but raw." 16.   And if the man said to him, "They should really burn the fat first; then you may take as much as your heart desires," he would then answer him, " No , but you must give it now; and if not, I will take it by force." 17.   Therefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD, for men abhorred the offering of the LORD. 18.   But Samuel ministered before the LORD, even as a child, wearing a linen ephod. 19.   Moreover his mother used to make him a little robe, and bring it to him year by year when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice. 20.   And Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife, and say, "The LORD give you descendants from this woman for the loan that was given to the LORD." Then they would go to their own home. 21.   And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile the child Samuel grew before the LORD. 22.   Now Eli was very old; and he heard everything his sons did to all Israel, and how they lay with the women who assembled at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 23.   So he said to them, "Why do you do such things? For I hear of your evil dealings from all the people. 24.   "No, my sons! For it is not a good report that I hear. You make the LORD’S people transgress. 25.   "If one man sins against another, God will judge him. But if a man sins against the LORD, who will intercede for him?" Nevertheless they did not heed the voice of their father, because the LORD desired to kill them. 26.   And the child Samuel grew in stature, and in favor both with the LORD and men. 27.   Then a man of God came to Eli and said to him, "Thus says the LORD: ‘Did I not clearly reveal Myself to the house of your father when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh’s house? 28.   ‘Did I not choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be My priest, to offer upon My altar, to burn incense, and to wear an ephod before Me? And did I not give to the house of your father all the offerings of the children of Israel made by fire? 29.   ‘Why do you kick at My sacrifice and My offering which I have commanded in My dwelling place, and honor your sons more than Me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Israel My people?’ 30.   "Therefore the LORD God of Israel says: ‘I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.’ But now the LORD says: ‘Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed. 31.   ‘Behold, the days are coming that I will cut off your arm and the arm of your father’s house, so that there will not be an old man in your house. 32.   ‘And you will see an enemy in My dwelling place, despite all the good which God does for Israel. And there shall not be an old man in your house forever. 33.   ‘But any of your men whom I do not cut off from My altar shall consume your eyes and grieve your heart. And all the descendants of your house shall die in the flower of their age. 34.   ‘Now this shall be a sign to you that will come upon your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they shall die, both of them. 35.   ‘Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever. 36.   ‘And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left in your house will come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and say, "Please, put me in one of the priestly positions, that I may eat a piece of bread."’"

YER 1

1.   The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, 2.   to whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. 3.   It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month. 4.   Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: 5.   "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations." 6.   Then said I: "Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth." 7.   But the LORD said to me: "Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8.   Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you," says the LORD. 9.   Then the LORD put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me: "Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. 10.   See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant." 11.   Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Jeremiah, what do you see?" And I said, "I see a branch of an almond tree." 12.   Then the LORD said to me, "You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word." 13.   And the word of the LORD came to me the second time, saying, "What do you see?" And I said, "I see a boiling pot, and it is facing away from the north." 14.   Then the LORD said to me: "Out of the north calamity shall break forth On all the inhabitants of the land. 15.   For behold, I am calling All the families of the kingdoms of the north," says the LORD; "They shall come and each one set his throne At the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, Against all its walls all around, And against all the cities of Judah. 16.   I will utter My judgments Against them concerning all their wickedness, Because they have forsaken Me, Burned incense to other gods, And worshiped the works of their own hands. 17.   "Therefore prepare yourself and arise, And speak to them all that I command you. Do not be dismayed before their faces, Lest I dismay you before them. 18.   For behold, I have made you this day A fortified city and an iron pillar, And bronze walls against the whole land––Against the kings of Judah, Against its princes, Against its priests, And against the people of the land. 19.   They will fight against you, But they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you," says the LORD, "to deliver you."

1TIM 6

1.   Let as many bondservants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and His doctrine may not be blasphemed. 2.   And those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brethren, but rather serve them because those who are benefited are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things. 3.   If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, 4.   he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, 5.   useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself. 6.   Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7.   For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8.   And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 9.   But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10.   For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11.   But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12.   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13.   I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14.   that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, 15.   which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16.   who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen. 17.   Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18.   Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, 19.   storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 20.   O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge–– 21.   by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.
