King James Version

MZM 116-118
LUK 9:18-36

MZM 116

1.   I love the LORD, because He has heard My voice and my supplications. 2.   Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live. 3.   The pains of death surrounded me, And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow. 4.   Then I called upon the name of the LORD: "O LORD, I implore You, deliver my soul!" 5.   Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; Yes, our God is merciful. 6.   The LORD preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me. 7.   Return to your rest, O my soul, For the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. 8.   For You have delivered my soul from death, My eyes from tears, And my feet from falling. 9.   I will walk before the LORD In the land of the living. 10.   I believed, therefore I spoke, "I am greatly afflicted." 11.   I said in my haste, "All men are liars." 12.   What shall I render to the LORD For all His benefits toward me? 13.   I will take up the cup of salvation, And call upon the name of the LORD. 14.   I will pay my vows to the LORD Now in the presence of all His people. 15.   Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His saints. 16.   O LORD, truly I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have loosed my bonds. 17.   I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of the LORD. 18.   I will pay my vows to the LORD Now in the presence of all His people, 19.   In the courts of the LORD’S house, In the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!

MZM 117

1.   Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples! 2.   For His merciful kindness is great toward us, And the truth of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD!

MZM 118

1.   Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. 2.   Let Israel now say, "His mercy endures forever." 3.   Let the house of Aaron now say, "His mercy endures forever." 4.   Let those who fear the LORD now say, "His mercy endures forever." 5.   I called on the LORD in distress; The LORD answered me and set me in a broad place. 6.   The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? 7.   The LORD is for me among those who help me; Therefore I shall see my desire on those who hate me. 8.   It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man. 9.   It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in princes. 10.   All nations surrounded me, But in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. 11.   They surrounded me, Yes, they surrounded me; But in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. 12.   They surrounded me like bees; They were quenched like a fire of thorns; For in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. 13.   You pushed me violently, that I might fall, But the LORD helped me. 14.   The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation. 15.   The voice of rejoicing and salvation Is in the tents of the righteous; The right hand of the LORD does valiantly. 16.   The right hand of the LORD is exalted; The right hand of the LORD does valiantly. 17.   I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of the LORD. 18.   The LORD has chastened me severely, But He has not given me over to death. 19.   Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will go through them, And I will praise the LORD. 20.   This is the gate of the LORD, Through which the righteous shall enter. 21.   I will praise You, For You have answered me, And have become my salvation. 22.   The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. 23.   This was the LORD’S doing; It is marvelous in our eyes. 24.   This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. 25.   Save now, I pray, O LORD; O LORD, I pray, send now prosperity. 26.   Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD! We have blessed you from the house of the LORD. 27.   God is the LORD, And He has given us light; Bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar. 28.   You are my God, and I will praise You; You are my God, I will exalt You. 29.   Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

LUK 9 18-36

18.   And it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, "Who do the crowds say that I am?" 19.   So they answered and said, "John the Baptist, but some say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again." 20.   He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered and said, "The Christ of God." 21.   And He strictly warned and commanded them to tell this to no one, 22.   saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day." 23.   Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24.   "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25.   "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26.   "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels. 27.   "But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God." 28.   Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray. 29.   As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening. 30.   And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, 31.   who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32.   But Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him. 33.   Then it happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah" ––not knowing what he said. 34.   While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud. 35.   And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!" 36.   When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.
