King James Version

1SAM 31
YER 28
LUK 11:1-28

1SAM 31

1.   Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell slain on Mount Gilboa. 2.   Then the Philistines followed hard after Saul and his sons. And the Philistines killed Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua, Saul’s sons. 3.   The battle became fierce against Saul. The archers hit him, and he was severely wounded by the archers. 4.   Then Saul said to his armorbearer, "Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised men come and thrust me through and abuse me." But his armorbearer would not, for he was greatly afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword and fell on it. 5.   And when his armorbearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on his sword, and died with him. 6.   So Saul, his three sons, his armorbearer, and all his men died together that same day. 7.   And when the men of Israel who were on the other side of the valley, and those who were on the other side of the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them. 8.   So it happened the next day, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa. 9.   And they cut off his head and stripped off his armor, and sent word throughout the land of the Philistines, to proclaim it in the temple of their idols and among the people. 10.   Then they put his armor in the temple of the Ashtoreths, and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth Shan. 11.   Now when the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead heard what the Philistines had done to Saul, 12.   all the valiant men arose and traveled all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth Shan; and they came to Jabesh and burned them there. 13.   Then they took their bones and buried them under the tamarisk tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

YER 28

1.   And it happened in the same year, at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year and in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, who was from Gibeon, spoke to me in the house of the LORD in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying, 2.   "Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying: ‘I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon. 3.   ‘Within two full years I will bring back to this place all the vessels of the LORD’S house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon. 4.   ‘And I will bring back to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah who went to Babylon,’ says the LORD, ‘for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.’" 5.   Then the prophet Jeremiah spoke to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests and in the presence of all the people who stood in the house of the LORD, 6.   and the prophet Jeremiah said, "Amen! The LORD do so; the LORD perform your words which you have prophesied, to bring back the vessels of the LORD’S house and all who were carried away captive, from Babylon to this place. 7.   "Nevertheless hear now this word that I speak in your hearing and in the hearing of all the people: 8.   "The prophets who have been before me and before you of old prophesied against many countries and great kingdoms––of war and disaster and pestilence. 9.   "As for the prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet comes to pass, the prophet will be known as one whom the LORD has truly sent." 10.   Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke off the prophet Jeremiah’s neck and broke it. 11.   And Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, "Thus says the LORD: ‘Even so I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years.’" And the prophet Jeremiah went his way. 12.   Now the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying, 13.   "Go and tell Hananiah, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD: "You have broken the yokes of wood, but you have made in their place yokes of iron." 14.   ‘For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him. I have given him the beasts of the field also."’" 15.   Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, "Hear now, Hananiah, the LORD has not sent you, but you make this people trust in a lie. 16.   "Therefore thus says the LORD: ‘Behold, I will cast you from the face of the earth. This year you shall die, because you have taught rebellion against the LORD.’" 17.   So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.

LUK 11 1-28

1.   Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples." 2.   So He said to them, "When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 3.   Give us day by day our daily bread. 4.   And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one." 5.   And He said to them, "Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; 6.   ‘for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7.   "and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? 8.   "I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs. 9.   "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10.   "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11.   "If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12.   "Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13.   "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" 14.   And He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. So it was, when the demon had gone out, that the mute spoke; and the multitudes marveled. 15.   But some of them said, "He casts out demons by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons." 16.   Others, testing Him , sought from Him a sign from heaven. 17.   But He, knowing their thoughts, said to them: "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls. 18.   "If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? Because you say I cast out demons by Beelzebub. 19.   "And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. 20.   "But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. 21.   "When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace. 22.   "But when a stronger than he comes upon him and overcomes him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils. 23.   "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters. 24.   "When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ 25.   "And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. 26.   "Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first." 27.   And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, "Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!" 28.   But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!"
