King James Version

MZM 70-71
LUK 1:1-25

MZM 70

1.   < A Psalm of David. To bring to remembrance.>> Make haste , O God, to deliver me! Make haste to help me, O LORD! 2.   Let them be ashamed and confounded Who seek my life; Let them be turned back and confused Who desire my hurt. 3.   Let them be turned back because of their shame, Who say, "Aha, aha!" 4.   Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And let those who love Your salvation say continually, "Let God be magnified!" 5.   But I am poor and needy; Make haste to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay.

MZM 71

1.   In You, O LORD, I put my trust; Let me never be put to shame. 2.   Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape; Incline Your ear to me, and save me. 3.   Be my strong refuge, To which I may resort continually; You have given the commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress. 4.   Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. 5.   For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust from my youth. 6.   By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You. 7.   I have become as a wonder to many, But You are my strong refuge. 8.   Let my mouth be filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day. 9.   Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails. 10.   For my enemies speak against me; And those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together, 11.   Saying, "God has forsaken him; Pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him ." 12.   O God, do not be far from me; O my God, make haste to help me! 13.   Let them be confounded and consumed Who are adversaries of my life; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor Who seek my hurt. 14.   But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more. 15.   My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And Your salvation all the day, For I do not know their limits. 16.   I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only. 17.   O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works. 18.   Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come. 19.   Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high, You who have done great things; O God, who is like You? 20.   You , who have shown me great and severe troubles, Shall revive me again, And bring me up again from the depths of the earth. 21.   You shall increase my greatness, And comfort me on every side. 22.   Also with the lute I will praise you–– And Your faithfulness, O my God! To You I will sing with the harp, O Holy One of Israel. 23.   My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, And my soul, which You have redeemed. 24.   My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long; For they are confounded, For they are brought to shame Who seek my hurt.

LUK 1 1-25

1.   Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled among us, 2.   just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us, 3.   it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus, 4.   that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed. 5.   There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. 6.   And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. 7.   But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years. 8.   So it was, that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division, 9.   according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. 10.   And the whole multitude of the people was praying outside at the hour of incense. 11.   Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 12.   And when Zacharias saw him , he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. 13.   But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14.   "And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. 15.   "For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 16.   "And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. 17.   "He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." 18.   And Zacharias said to the angel, "How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years." 19.   And the angel answered and said to him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings. 20.   "But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time." 21.   And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he lingered so long in the temple. 22.   But when he came out, he could not speak to them; and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple, for he beckoned to them and remained speechless. 23.   And so it was, as soon as the days of his service were completed, that he departed to his own house. 24.   Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying, 25.   "Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me , to take away my reproach among people."
