King James Version
1. THE BELOVED Behold, you are fair, my love! Behold, you are fair! You have dove’s eyes behind your veil. Your hair is like a flock of goats, Going down from Mount Gilead. 2. Your teeth are like a flock of shorn sheep Which have come up from the washing, Every one of which bears twins, And none is barren among them. 3. Your lips are like a strand of scarlet, And your mouth is lovely. Your temples behind your veil Are like a piece of pomegranate. 4. Your neck is like the tower of David, Built for an armory, On which hang a thousand bucklers, All shields of mighty men. 5. Your two breasts are like two fawns, Twins of a gazelle, Which feed among the lilies. 6. Until the day breaks And the shadows flee away, I will go my way to the mountain of myrrh And to the hill of frankincense. 7. You are all fair, my love, And there is no spot in you. 8. Come with me from Lebanon, my spouse, With me from Lebanon. Look from the top of Amana, From the top of Senir and Hermon, From the lions’ dens, From the mountains of the leopards. 9. You have ravished my heart, My sister, my spouse; You have ravished my heart With one look of your eyes, With one link of your necklace. 10. How fair is your love, My sister, my spouse! How much better than wine is your love, And the scent of your perfumes Than all spices! 11. Your lips, O my spouse, Drip as the honeycomb; Honey and milk are under your tongue; And the fragrance of your garments Is like the fragrance of Lebanon. 12. A garden enclosed Is my sister, my spouse, A spring shut up, A fountain sealed. 13. Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates With pleasant fruits, Fragrant henna with spikenard, 14. Spikenard and saffron, Calamus and cinnamon, With all trees of frankincense, Myrrh and aloes, With all the chief spices–– 15. A fountain of gardens, A well of living waters, And streams from Lebanon. 16. THE SHULAMITE Awake, O north wind , And come, O south! Blow upon my garden, That its spices may flow out. Let my beloved come to his garden And eat its pleasant fruits.
1. THE BELOVED I have come to my garden, my sister, my spouse; I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk. (TO HIS FRIENDS) Eat, O friends! Drink, yes, drink deeply, O beloved ones! 2. THE SHULAMITE I sleep, but my heart is awake; It is the voice of my beloved! He knocks, saying , "Open for me, my sister, my love, My dove, my perfect one; For my head is covered with dew, My locks with the drops of the night." 3. I have taken off my robe; How can I put it on again ? I have washed my feet; How can I defile them? 4. My beloved put his hand By the latch of the door , And my heart yearned for him. 5. I arose to open for my beloved, And my hands dripped with myrrh, My fingers with liquid myrrh, On the handles of the lock. 6. I opened for my beloved, But my beloved had turned away and was gone. My heart leaped up when he spoke. I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer. 7. The watchmen who went about the city found me. They struck me, they wounded me; The keepers of the walls Took my veil away from me. 8. I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, If you find my beloved, That you tell him I am lovesick! 9. THE DAUGHTERS OF JERUSALEM What is your beloved More than another beloved, O fairest among women? What is your beloved More than another beloved, That you so charge us? 10. THE SHULAMITE My beloved is white and ruddy, Chief among ten thousand. 11. His head is like the finest gold; His locks are wavy, And black as a raven. 12. His eyes are like doves By the rivers of waters, Washed with milk, And fitly set. 13. His cheeks are like a bed of spices, Banks of scented herbs. His lips are lilies, Dripping liquid myrrh. 14. His hands are rods of gold Set with beryl. His body is carved ivory Inlaid with sapphires. 15. His legs are pillars of marble Set on bases of fine gold. His countenance is like Lebanon, Excellent as the cedars. 16. His mouth is most sweet, Yes, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, And this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem!
36. Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, "Peace to you." 37. But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit. 38. And He said to them, "Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39. "Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have." 40. When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41. But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, "Have you any food here?" 42. So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. 43. And He took it and ate in their presence. 44. Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me." 45. And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. 46. Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47. "and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48. "And you are witnesses of these things. 49. "Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high." 50. And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51. Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. 52. And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53. and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.
