KEJ 35:1-36:19
AYB 3
MAT 18:1-20

KEJ 35 1-29

1.   Then God said to Jacob, "Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there; and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother." 2.   And Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, "Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your garments. 3.   "Then let us arise and go up to Bethel; and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me in the way which I have gone." 4.   So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their hands, and the earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the terebinth tree which was by Shechem. 5.   And they journeyed, and the terror of God was upon the cities that were all around them, and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob. 6.   So Jacob came to Luz (that is , Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him. 7.   And he built an altar there and called the place El Bethel, because there God appeared to him when he fled from the face of his brother. 8.   Now Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the terebinth tree. So the name of it was called Allon Bachuth. 9.   Then God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Padan Aram, and blessed him. 10.   And God said to him, "Your name is Jacob; your name shall not be called Jacob anymore, but Israel shall be your name." So He called his name Israel. 11.   Also God said to him: "I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body. 12.   "The land which I gave Abraham and Isaac I give to you; and to your descendants after you I give this land." 13.   Then God went up from him in the place where He talked with him. 14.   So Jacob set up a pillar in the place where He talked with him, a pillar of stone; and he poured a drink offering on it, and he poured oil on it. 15.   And Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him, Bethel. 16.   Then they journeyed from Bethel. And when there was but a little distance to go to Ephrath, Rachel labored in childbirth , and she had hard labor. 17.   Now it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, "Do not fear; you will have this son also." 18.   And so it was, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name Ben–Oni; but his father called him Benjamin. 19.   So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is , Bethlehem). 20.   And Jacob set a pillar on her grave, which is the pillar of Rachel’s grave to this day. 21.   Then Israel journeyed and pitched his tent beyond the tower of Eder. 22.   And it happened, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine; and Israel heard about it . Now the sons of Jacob were twelve: 23.   the sons of Leah were Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, and Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun; 24.   the sons of Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin; 25.   the sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s maidservant, were Dan and Naphtali; 26.   and the sons of Zilpah, Leah’s maidservant, were Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Padan Aram. 27.   Then Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre, or Kirjath Arba (that is , Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had dwelt. 28.   Now the days of Isaac were one hundred and eighty years. 29.   So Isaac breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people, being old and full of days. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

KEJ 36 1-19

1.   Now this is the genealogy of Esau, who is Edom. 2.   Esau took his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite; Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite; 3.   and Basemath, Ishmael’s daughter, sister of Nebajoth. 4.   Now Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, and Basemath bore Reuel. 5.   And Aholibamah bore Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah. These were the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan. 6.   Then Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the persons of his household, his cattle and all his animals, and all his goods which he had gained in the land of Canaan, and went to a country away from the presence of his brother Jacob. 7.   For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together, and the land where they were strangers could not support them because of their livestock. 8.   So Esau dwelt in Mount Seir. Esau is Edom. 9.   And this is the genealogy of Esau the father of the Edomites in Mount Seir. 10.   These were the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, and Reuel the son of Basemath the wife of Esau. 11.   And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz. 12.   Now Timna was the concubine of Eliphaz, Esau’s son, and she bore Amalek to Eliphaz. These were the sons of Adah, Esau’s wife. 13.   These were the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These were the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife. 14.   These were the sons of Aholibamah, Esau’s wife, the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon. And she bore to Esau: Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah. 15.   These were the chiefs of the sons of Esau. The sons of Eliphaz, the firstborn son of Esau, were Chief Teman, Chief Omar, Chief Zepho, Chief Kenaz, 16.   Chief Korah, Chief Gatam, and Chief Amalek. These were the chiefs of Eliphaz in the land of Edom. They were the sons of Adah. 17.   These were the sons of Reuel, Esau’s son: Chief Nahath, Chief Zerah, Chief Shammah, and Chief Mizzah. These were the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom. These were the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife. 18.   And these were the sons of Aholibamah, Esau’s wife: Chief Jeush, Chief Jaalam, and Chief Korah. These were the chiefs who descended from Aholibamah, Esau’s wife, the daughter of Anah. 19.   These were the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these were their chiefs.

AYB 3

1.   After this Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth . 2.   And Job spoke, and said: 3.   "May the day perish on which I was born, And the night in which it was said, ‘A male child is conceived.’ 4.   May that day be darkness; May God above not seek it, Nor the light shine upon it. 5.   May darkness and the shadow of death claim it; May a cloud settle on it; May the blackness of the day terrify it. 6.   As for that night, may darkness seize it; May it not rejoice among the days of the year, May it not come into the number of the months. 7.   Oh, may that night be barren! May no joyful shout come into it! 8.   May those curse it who curse the day, Those who are ready to arouse Leviathan. 9.   May the stars of its morning be dark; May it look for light, but have none, And not see the dawning of the day; 10.   Because it did not shut up the doors of my mother’s womb, Nor hide sorrow from my eyes. 11.   "Why did I not die at birth? Why did I not perish when I came from the womb? 12.   Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breasts, that I should nurse? 13.   For now I would have lain still and been quiet, I would have been asleep; Then I would have been at rest 14.   With kings and counselors of the earth, Who built ruins for themselves, 15.   Or with princes who had gold, Who filled their houses with silver; 16.   Or why was I not hidden like a stillborn child, Like infants who never saw light? 17.   There the wicked cease from troubling, And there the weary are at rest. 18.   There the prisoners rest together; They do not hear the voice of the oppressor. 19.   The small and great are there, And the servant is free from his master. 20.   "Why is light given to him who is in misery, And life to the bitter of soul, 21.   Who long for death, but it does not come , And search for it more than hidden treasures; 22.   Who rejoice exceedingly, And are glad when they can find the grave? 23.   Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden, And whom God has hedged in? 24.   For my sighing comes before I eat, And my groanings pour out like water. 25.   For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, And what I dreaded has happened to me. 26.   I am not at ease, nor am I quiet; I have no rest, for trouble comes."

MAT 18 1-20

1.   At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" 2.   Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3.   and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 4.   "Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5.   "Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me. 6.   "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7.   "Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes! 8.   "If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. 9.   "And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire. 10.   "Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. 11.   "For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost. 12.   "What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety–nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? 13.   "And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety–nine that did not go astray. 14.   "Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish. 15.   "Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16.   "But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ 17.   "And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector. 18.   "Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19.   "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20.   "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."
