IM 9

1.   It came to pass on the eighth day that Moses called Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel. 2.   And he said to Aaron, "Take for yourself a young bull as a sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering, without blemish, and offer them before the LORD. 3.   "And to the children of Israel you shall speak, saying, ‘Take a kid of the goats as a sin offering, and a calf and a lamb, both of the first year, without blemish, as a burnt offering, 4.   ‘also a bull and a ram as peace offerings, to sacrifice before the LORD, and a grain offering mixed with oil; for today the LORD will appear to you.’" 5.   So they brought what Moses commanded before the tabernacle of meeting. And all the congregation drew near and stood before the LORD. 6.   Then Moses said, "This is the thing which the LORD commanded you to do, and the glory of the LORD will appear to you." 7.   And Moses said to Aaron, "Go to the altar, offer your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself and for the people. Offer the offering of the people, and make atonement for them, as the LORD commanded." 8.   Aaron therefore went to the altar and killed the calf of the sin offering, which was for himself. 9.   Then the sons of Aaron brought the blood to him. And he dipped his finger in the blood, put it on the horns of the altar, and poured the blood at the base of the altar. 10.   But the fat, the kidneys, and the fatty lobe from the liver of the sin offering he burned on the altar, as the LORD had commanded Moses. 11.   The flesh and the hide he burned with fire outside the camp. 12.   And he killed the burnt offering; and Aaron’s sons presented to him the blood, which he sprinkled all around on the altar. 13.   Then they presented the burnt offering to him, with its pieces and head, and he burned them on the altar. 14.   And he washed the entrails and the legs, and burned them with the burnt offering on the altar. 15.   Then he brought the people’s offering, and took the goat, which was the sin offering for the people, and killed it and offered it for sin, like the first one. 16.   And he brought the burnt offering and offered it according to the prescribed manner. 17.   Then he brought the grain offering, took a handful of it, and burned it on the altar, besides the burnt sacrifice of the morning. 18.   He also killed the bull and the ram as sacrifices of peace offerings, which were for the people. And Aaron’s sons presented to him the blood, which he sprinkled all around on the altar, 19.   and the fat from the bull and the ram––the fatty tail, what covers the entrails and the kidneys, and the fatty lobe attached to the liver; 20.   and they put the fat on the breasts. Then he burned the fat on the altar; 21.   but the breasts and the right thigh Aaron waved as a wave offering before the LORD, as Moses had commanded. 22.   Then Aaron lifted his hand toward the people, blessed them, and came down from offering the sin offering, the burnt offering, and peace offerings. 23.   And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of meeting, and came out and blessed the people. Then the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people, 24.   and fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. When all the people saw it , they shouted and fell on their faces.

1.   < A Psalm of David.>> Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. 2.   I sink in deep mire, Where there is no standing; I have come into deep waters, Where the floods overflow me. 3.   I am weary with my crying; My throat is dry; My eyes fail while I wait for my God. 4.   Those who hate me without a cause Are more than the hairs of my head; They are mighty who would destroy me, Being my enemies wrongfully; Though I have stolen nothing, I still must restore it . 5.   O God, You know my foolishness; And my sins are not hidden from You. 6.   Let not those who wait for You, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed because of me; Let not those who seek You be confounded because of me, O God of Israel. 7.   Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Shame has covered my face. 8.   I have become a stranger to my brothers, And an alien to my mother’s children; 9.   Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up, And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me. 10.   When I wept and chastened my soul with fasting, That became my reproach. 11.   I also made sackcloth my garment; I became a byword to them. 12.   Those who sit in the gate speak against me, And I am the song of the drunkards. 13.   But as for me, my prayer is to You, O LORD, in the acceptable time; O God, in the multitude of Your mercy, Hear me in the truth of Your salvation. 14.   Deliver me out of the mire, And let me not sink; Let me be delivered from those who hate me, And out of the deep waters. 15.   Let not the floodwater overflow me, Nor let the deep swallow me up; And let not the pit shut its mouth on me. 16.   Hear me, O LORD, for Your lovingkindness is good; Turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies. 17.   And do not hide Your face from Your servant, For I am in trouble; Hear me speedily. 18.   Draw near to my soul, and redeem it; Deliver me because of my enemies. 19.   You know my reproach, my shame, and my dishonor; My adversaries are all before You. 20.   Reproach has broken my heart, And I am full of heaviness; I looked for someone to take pity, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none. 21.   They also gave me gall for my food, And for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. 22.   Let their table become a snare before them, And their well–being a trap. 23.   Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see; And make their loins shake continually. 24.   Pour out Your indignation upon them, And let Your wrathful anger take hold of them. 25.   Let their dwelling place be desolate; Let no one live in their tents. 26.   For they persecute the ones You have struck, And talk of the grief of those You have wounded. 27.   Add iniquity to their iniquity, And let them not come into Your righteousness. 28.   Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, And not be written with the righteous. 29.   But I am poor and sorrowful; Let Your salvation, O God, set me up on high. 30.   I will praise the name of God with a song, And will magnify Him with thanksgiving. 31.   This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bull, Which has horns and hooves. 32.   The humble shall see this and be glad; And you who seek God, your hearts shall live. 33.   For the LORD hears the poor, And does not despise His prisoners. 34.   Let heaven and earth praise Him, The seas and everything that moves in them. 35.   For God will save Zion And build the cities of Judah, That they may dwell there and possess it. 36.   Also, the descendants of His servants shall inherit it, And those who love His name shall dwell in it.

KIS 23 1-11

1.   Then Paul, looking earnestly at the council, said, "Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day." 2.   And the high priest Ananias commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth. 3.   Then Paul said to him, "God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! For you sit to judge me according to the law, and do you command me to be struck contrary to the law?" 4.   And those who stood by said, "Do you revile God’s high priest?" 5.   Then Paul said, "I did not know, brethren, that he was the high priest; for it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’" 6.   But when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, "Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!" 7.   And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees; and the assembly was divided. 8.   For Sadducees say that there is no resurrection––and no angel or spirit; but the Pharisees confess both. 9.   Then there arose a loud outcry. And the scribes of the Pharisees’ party arose and protested, saying, "We find no evil in this man; but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God." 10.   Now when there arose a great dissension, the commander, fearing lest Paul might be pulled to pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them, and bring him into the barracks. 11.   But the following night the Lord stood by him and said, "Be of good cheer, Paul; for as you have testified for Me in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness at Rome."
