IM 26 14-46

14.   ‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, 15.   and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, 16.   I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. 17.   I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you. 18.   ‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. 19.   I will break the pride of your power; I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze. 20.   And your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit. 21.   ‘Then, if you walk contrary to Me, and are not willing to obey Me, I will bring on you seven times more plagues, according to your sins. 22.   I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, destroy your livestock, and make you few in number; and your highways shall be desolate. 23.   ‘And if by these things you are not reformed by Me, but walk contrary to Me, 24.   then I also will walk contrary to you, and I will punish you yet seven times for your sins. 25.   And I will bring a sword against you that will execute the vengeance of the covenant; when you are gathered together within your cities I will send pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. 26.   When I have cut off your supply of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall bring back your bread by weight, and you shall eat and not be satisfied. 27.   ‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, but walk contrary to Me, 28.   then I also will walk contrary to you in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. 29.   You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters. 30.   I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and cast your carcasses on the lifeless forms of your idols; and My soul shall abhor you. 31.   I will lay your cities waste and bring your sanctuaries to desolation, and I will not smell the fragrance of your sweet aromas. 32.   I will bring the land to desolation, and your enemies who dwell in it shall be astonished at it. 33.   I will scatter you among the nations and draw out a sword after you; your land shall be desolate and your cities waste. 34.   Then the land shall enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies’ land; then the land shall rest and enjoy its sabbaths. 35.   As long as it lies desolate it shall rest––for the time it did not rest on your sabbaths when you dwelt in it. 36.   ‘And as for those of you who are left, I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; the sound of a shaken leaf shall cause them to flee; they shall flee as though fleeing from a sword, and they shall fall when no one pursues. 37.   They shall stumble over one another, as it were before a sword, when no one pursues; and you shall have no power to stand before your enemies. 38.   You shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up. 39.   And those of you who are left shall waste away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; also in their fathers’ iniquities, which are with them, they shall waste away. 40.   ‘ But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me, 41.   and that I also have walked contrary to them and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they accept their guilt–– 42.   then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham I will remember; I will remember the land. 43.   The land also shall be left empty by them, and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; they will accept their guilt, because they despised My judgments and because their soul abhorred My statutes. 44.   Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, nor shall I abhor them, to utterly destroy them and break My covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God. 45.   But for their sake I will remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.’" 46.   These are the statutes and judgments and laws which the LORD made between Himself and the children of Israel on Mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.

MZM 104

1.   Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great: You are clothed with honor and majesty, 2.   Who cover Yourself with light as with a garment, Who stretch out the heavens like a curtain. 3.   He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters, Who makes the clouds His chariot, Who walks on the wings of the wind, 4.   Who makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flame of fire. 5.   You who laid the foundations of the earth, So that it should not be moved forever, 6.   You covered it with the deep as with a garment; The waters stood above the mountains. 7.   At Your rebuke they fled; At the voice of Your thunder they hastened away. 8.   They went up over the mountains; They went down into the valleys, To the place which You founded for them. 9.   You have set a boundary that they may not pass over, That they may not return to cover the earth. 10.   He sends the springs into the valleys, They flow among the hills. 11.   They give drink to every beast of the field; The wild donkeys quench their thirst. 12.   By them the birds of the heavens have their home; They sing among the branches. 13.   He waters the hills from His upper chambers; The earth is satisfied with the fruit of Your works. 14.   He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, And vegetation for the service of man, That he may bring forth food from the earth, 15.   And wine that makes glad the heart of man, Oil to make his face shine, And bread which strengthens man’s heart. 16.   The trees of the LORD are full of sap , The cedars of Lebanon which He planted, 17.   Where the birds make their nests; The stork has her home in the fir trees. 18.   The high hills are for the wild goats; The cliffs are a refuge for the rock badgers. 19.   He appointed the moon for seasons; The sun knows its going down. 20.   You make darkness, and it is night, In which all the beasts of the forest creep about. 21.   The young lions roar after their prey, And seek their food from God. 22.   When the sun rises, they gather together And lie down in their dens. 23.   Man goes out to his work And to his labor until the evening. 24.   O LORD, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions–– 25.   This great and wide sea, In which are innumerable teeming things, Living things both small and great. 26.   There the ships sail about; There is that Leviathan Which You have made to play there. 27.   These all wait for You, That You may give them their food in due season. 28.   What You give them they gather in; You open Your hand, they are filled with good. 29.   You hide Your face, they are troubled; You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. 30.   You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the earth. 31.   May the glory of the LORD endure forever; May the LORD rejoice in His works. 32.   He looks on the earth, and it trembles; He touches the hills, and they smoke. 33.   I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. 34.   May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the LORD. 35.   May sinners be consumed from the earth, And the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul! Praise the LORD!

RM 9 16-33

16.   So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. 17.   For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth." 18.   Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens. 19.   You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?" 20.   But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it , "Why have you made me like this?" 21.   Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor? 22.   What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, 23.   and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, 24.   even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? 25.   As He says also in Hosea: "I will call them My people, who were not My people, And her beloved, who was not beloved." 26.   "And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not My people,’ There they shall be called sons of the living God." 27.   Isaiah also cries out concerning Israel: "Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, The remnant will be saved. 28.   For He will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness, Because the LORD will make a short work upon the earth." 29.   And as Isaiah said before: "Unless the LORD of Sabaoth had left us a seed, We would have become like Sodom, And we would have been made like Gomorrah." 30.   What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith; 31.   but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. 32.   Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone. 33.   As it is written: "Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."
