BIL 9

1.   Now the LORD spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying: 2.   "Let the children of Israel keep the Passover at its appointed time. 3.   "On the fourteenth day of this month, at twilight, you shall keep it at its appointed time. According to all its rites and ceremonies you shall keep it." 4.   So Moses told the children of Israel that they should keep the Passover. 5.   And they kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month, at twilight, in the Wilderness of Sinai; according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did. 6.   Now there were certain men who were defiled by a human corpse, so that they could not keep the Passover on that day; and they came before Moses and Aaron that day. 7.   And those men said to him, "We became defiled by a human corpse. Why are we kept from presenting the offering of the LORD at its appointed time among the children of Israel?" 8.   And Moses said to them, "Stand still, that I may hear what the LORD will command concerning you." 9.   Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 10.   "Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘If anyone of you or your posterity is unclean because of a corpse, or is far away on a journey, he may still keep the LORD’S Passover. 11.   ‘On the fourteenth day of the second month, at twilight, they may keep it. They shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. 12.   ‘They shall leave none of it until morning, nor break one of its bones. According to all the ordinances of the Passover they shall keep it. 13.   ‘But the man who is clean and is not on a journey, and ceases to keep the Passover, that same person shall be cut off from among his people, because he did not bring the offering of the LORD at its appointed time; that man shall bear his sin. 14.   ‘And if a stranger dwells among you, and would keep the LORD’S Passover, he must do so according to the rite of the Passover and according to its ceremony; you shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger and the native of the land.’" 15.   Now on the day that the tabernacle was raised up, the cloud covered the tabernacle, the tent of the Testimony; from evening until morning it was above the tabernacle like the appearance of fire. 16.   So it was always: the cloud covered it by day , and the appearance of fire by night. 17.   Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, after that the children of Israel would journey; and in the place where the cloud settled, there the children of Israel would pitch their tents. 18.   At the command of the LORD the children of Israel would journey, and at the command of the LORD they would camp; as long as the cloud stayed above the tabernacle they remained encamped. 19.   Even when the cloud continued long, many days above the tabernacle, the children of Israel kept the charge of the LORD and did not journey. 20.   So it was, when the cloud was above the tabernacle a few days: according to the command of the LORD they would remain encamped, and according to the command of the LORD they would journey. 21.   So it was, when the cloud remained only from evening until morning: when the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they would journey; whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud was taken up, they would journey. 22.   Whether it was two days, a month, or a year that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would remain encamped and not journey; but when it was taken up, they would journey. 23.   At the command of the LORD they remained encamped, and at the command of the LORD they journeyed; they kept the charge of the LORD, at the command of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

1.   Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, 2.   To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: 3.   Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4.   I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, 5.   that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, 6.   even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, 7.   so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, 8.   who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9.   God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 10.   Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 11.   For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household , that there are contentions among you. 12.   Now I say this, that each of you says, "I am of Paul," or "I am of Apollos," or "I am of Cephas," or "I am of Christ." 13.   Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? 14.   I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15.   lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name. 16.   Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I do not know whether I baptized any other. 17.   For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. 18.   For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19.   For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent." 20.   Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21.   For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22.   For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23.   but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, 24.   but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25.   Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26.   For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called . 27.   But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28.   and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29.   that no flesh should glory in His presence. 30.   But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God––and righteousness and sanctification and redemption–– 31.   that, as it is written, "He who glories, let him glory in the LORD."
