KID 1-2
MRK 4:1-20

UL 15

1.   "At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debts . 2.   "And this is the form of the release: Every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall release it ; he shall not require it of his neighbor or his brother, because it is called the LORD’S release. 3.   "Of a foreigner you may require it ; but you shall give up your claim to what is owed by your brother, 4.   "except when there may be no poor among you; for the LORD will greatly bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance–– 5.   "only if you carefully obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe with care all these commandments which I command you today. 6.   "For the LORD your God will bless you just as He promised you; you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; you shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you. 7.   "If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, 8.   "but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs. 9.   "Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the LORD against you, and it become sin among you. 10.   "You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the LORD your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. 11.   "For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.’ 12.   "If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you. 13.   "And when you send him away free from you, you shall not let him go away empty–handed; 14.   "you shall supply him liberally from your flock, from your threshing floor, and from your winepress. From what the LORD your God has blessed you with, you shall give to him. 15.   "You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this thing today. 16.   "And if it happens that he says to you, ‘I will not go away from you,’ because he loves you and your house, since he prospers with you, 17.   "then you shall take an awl and thrust it through his ear to the door, and he shall be your servant forever. Also to your female servant you shall do likewise. 18.   "It shall not seem hard to you when you send him away free from you; for he has been worth a double hired servant in serving you six years. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all that you do. 19.   "All the firstborn males that come from your herd and your flock you shall sanctify to the LORD your God; you shall do no work with the firstborn of your herd, nor shear the firstborn of your flock. 20.   "You and your household shall eat it before the LORD your God year by year in the place which the LORD chooses. 21.   "But if there is a defect in it, if it is lame or blind or has any serious defect, you shall not sacrifice it to the LORD your God. 22.   "You may eat it within your gates; the unclean and the clean person alike may eat it , as if it were a gazelle or a deer. 23.   "Only you shall not eat its blood; you shall pour it on the ground like water.

My mother’s sons were angry with me; They made me the keeper of the vineyards, But my own vineyard I have not kept. 7.   (TO HER BELOVED) Tell me, O you whom I love, Where you feed your flock , Where you make it rest at noon. For why should I be as one who veils herself By the flocks of your companions? 8.   THE BELOVED If you do not know, O fairest among women, Follow in the footsteps of the flock, And feed your little goats Beside the shepherds’ tents. 9.   I have compared you, my love, To my filly among Pharaoh’s chariots. 10.   Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments, Your neck with chains of gold . 11.   THE DAUGHTERS OF JERUSALEM We will make you ornaments of gold With studs of silver. 12.   THE SHULAMITE While the king is at his table, My spikenard sends forth its fragrance. 13.   A bundle of myrrh is my beloved to me, That lies all night between my breasts. 14.   My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blooms In the vineyards of En Gedi. 15.   THE BELOVED Behold, you are fair, my love! Behold, you are fair! You have dove’s eyes. 16.   THE SHULAMITE Behold, you are handsome, my beloved! Yes, pleasant! Also our bed is green. 17.   The beams of our houses are cedar, And our rafters of fir.

KID 2

Behold, he comes Leaping upon the mountains, Skipping upon the hills. 9.   My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, he stands behind our wall; He is looking through the windows, Gazing through the lattice. 10.   My beloved spoke, and said to me: "Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away. 11.   For lo, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone. 12.   The flowers appear on the earth; The time of singing has come, And the voice of the turtledove Is heard in our land. 13.   The fig tree puts forth her green figs, And the vines with the tender grapes Give a good smell. Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away! 14.   "O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, In the secret places of the cliff, Let me see your face, Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, And your face is lovely." 15.   HER BROTHERS Catch us the foxes, The little foxes that spoil the vines, For our vines have tender grapes. 16.   THE SHULAMITE My beloved is mine, and I am his. He feeds his flock among the lilies. 17.   (TO HER BELOVED) Until the day breaks And the shadows flee away, Turn, my beloved, And be like a gazelle Or a young stag Upon the mountains of Bether.

MRK 4 1-20

1.   And again He began to teach by the sea. And a great multitude was gathered to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat in it on the sea; and the whole multitude was on the land facing the sea. 2.   Then He taught them many things by parables, and said to them in His teaching: 3.   "Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4.   "And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds of the air came and devoured it. 5.   "Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. 6.   "But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. 7.   "And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. 8.   "But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred." 9.   And He said to them, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" 10.   But when He was alone, those around Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable. 11.   And He said to them, "To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, 12.   "so that ‘Seeing they may see and not perceive, And hearing they may hear and not understand; Lest they should turn, And their sins be forgiven them.’" 13.   And He said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables? 14.   "The sower sows the word. 15.   "And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts. 16.   "These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17.   "and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble. 18.   "Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, 19.   "and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. 20.   "But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it , and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred."
