King James Version
1. "If anyone is found slain, lying in the field in the land which the LORD your God is giving you to possess, and it is not known who killed him, 2. "then your elders and your judges shall go out and measure the distance from the slain man to the surrounding cities. 3. "And it shall be that the elders of the city nearest to the slain man will take a heifer which has not been worked and which has not pulled with a yoke. 4. "The elders of that city shall bring the heifer down to a valley with flowing water, which is neither plowed nor sown, and they shall break the heifer’s neck there in the valley. 5. "Then the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come near, for the LORD your God has chosen them to minister to Him and to bless in the name of the LORD; by their word every controversy and every assault shall be settled . 6. "And all the elders of that city nearest to the slain man shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley. 7. "Then they shall answer and say, ‘Our hands have not shed this blood, nor have our eyes seen it . 8. ‘Provide atonement, O LORD, for Your people Israel, whom You have redeemed, and do not lay innocent blood to the charge of Your people Israel.’ And atonement shall be provided on their behalf for the blood. 9. "So you shall put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you when you do what is right in the sight of the LORD. 10. "When you go out to war against your enemies, and the LORD your God delivers them into your hand, and you take them captive, 11. "and you see among the captives a beautiful woman, and desire her and would take her for your wife, 12. "then you shall bring her home to your house, and she shall shave her head and trim her nails. 13. "She shall put off the clothes of her captivity, remain in your house, and mourn her father and her mother a full month; after that you may go in to her and be her husband, and she shall be your wife. 14. "And it shall be, if you have no delight in her, then you shall set her free, but you certainly shall not sell her for money; you shall not treat her brutally, because you have humbled her. 15. "If a man has two wives, one loved and the other unloved, and they have borne him children, both the loved and the unloved, and if the firstborn son is of her who is unloved, 16. "then it shall be, on the day he bequeaths his possessions to his sons, that he must not bestow firstborn status on the son of the loved wife in preference to the son of the unloved, the true firstborn. 17. "But he shall acknowledge the son of the unloved wife as the firstborn by giving him a double portion of all that he has, for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his. 18. "If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and who , when they have chastened him, will not heed them, 19. "then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city, to the gate of his city. 20. "And they shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’ 21. "Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones; so you shall put away the evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear. 22. "If a man has committed a sin deserving of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree, 23. "his body shall not remain overnight on the tree, but you shall surely bury him that day, so that you do not defile the land which the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance; for he who is hanged is accursed of God.
1. The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2. Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the LORD’S house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And all nations shall flow to it. 3. Many people shall come and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4. He shall judge between the nations, And rebuke many people; They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore. 5. O house of Jacob, come and let us walk In the light of the LORD. 6. For You have forsaken Your people, the house of Jacob, Because they are filled with eastern ways; They are soothsayers like the Philistines, And they are pleased with the children of foreigners. 7. Their land is also full of silver and gold, And there is no end to their treasures; Their land is also full of horses, And there is no end to their chariots. 8. Their land is also full of idols; They worship the work of their own hands, That which their own fingers have made. 9. People bow down, And each man humbles himself; Therefore do not forgive them. 10. Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust, From the terror of the LORD And the glory of His majesty. 11. The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, The haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, And the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. 12. For the day of the LORD of hosts Shall come upon everything proud and lofty, Upon everything lifted up––And it shall be brought low–– 13. Upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, And upon all the oaks of Bashan; 14. Upon all the high mountains, And upon all the hills that are lifted up; 15. Upon every high tower, And upon every fortified wall; 16. Upon all the ships of Tarshish, And upon all the beautiful sloops. 17. The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, And the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; The LORD alone will be exalted in that day, 18. But the idols He shall utterly abolish. 19. They shall go into the holes of the rocks, And into the caves of the earth, From the terror of the LORD And the glory of His majesty, When He arises to shake the earth mightily. 20. In that day a man will cast away his idols of silver And his idols of gold, Which they made, each for himself to worship, To the moles and bats, 21. To go into the clefts of the rocks, And into the crags of the rugged rocks, From the terror of the LORD And the glory of His majesty, When He arises to shake the earth mightily. 22. Sever yourselves from such a man, Whose breath is in his nostrils; For of what account is he?
30. Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. 31. And He said to them, "Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while." For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. 32. So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves. 33. But the multitudes saw them departing, and many knew Him and ran there on foot from all the cities. They arrived before them and came together to Him. 34. And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things. 35. When the day was now far spent, His disciples came to Him and said, "This is a deserted place, and already the hour is late. 36. "Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy themselves bread; for they have nothing to eat." 37. But He answered and said to them, "You give them something to eat." And they said to Him, "Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them something to eat?" 38. But He said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go and see." And when they found out they said, "Five, and two fish." 39. Then He commanded them to make them all sit down in groups on the green grass. 40. So they sat down in ranks, in hundreds and in fifties. 41. And when He had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and the two fish He divided among them all. 42. So they all ate and were filled. 43. And they took up twelve baskets full of fragments and of the fish. 44. Now those who had eaten the loaves were about five thousand men. 45. Immediately He made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while He sent the multitude away. 46. And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray. 47. Now when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea; and He was alone on the land. 48. Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by. 49. And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; 50. for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, "Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid." 51. Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled. 52. For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened. 53. When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there. 54. And when they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, 55. ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was. 56. Wherever He entered into villages, cities, or in the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well.
