HAK 4

1.   When Ehud was dead, the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD. 2.   So the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. The commander of his army was Sisera, who dwelt in Harosheth Hagoyim. 3.   And the children of Israel cried out to the LORD; for Jabin had nine hundred chariots of iron, and for twenty years he harshly oppressed the children of Israel. 4.   Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, was judging Israel at that time. 5.   And she would sit under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the mountains of Ephraim. And the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. 6.   Then she sent and called for Barak the son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, "Has not the LORD God of Israel commanded, ‘Go and deploy troops at Mount Tabor; take with you ten thousand men of the sons of Naphtali and of the sons of Zebulun; 7.   ‘and against you I will deploy Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his multitude at the River Kishon; and I will deliver him into your hand’?" 8.   And Barak said to her, "If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go!" 9.   So she said, "I will surely go with you; nevertheless there will be no glory for you in the journey you are taking, for the LORD will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman." Then Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh. 10.   And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; he went up with ten thousand men under his command, and Deborah went up with him. 11.   Now Heber the Kenite, of the children of Hobab the father–in–law of Moses, had separated himself from the Kenites and pitched his tent near the terebinth tree at Zaanaim, which is beside Kedesh. 12.   And they reported to Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor. 13.   So Sisera gathered together all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people who were with him, from Harosheth Hagoyim to the River Kishon. 14.   Then Deborah said to Barak, "Up! For this is the day in which the LORD has delivered Sisera into your hand. Has not the LORD gone out before you?" So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him. 15.   And the LORD routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army with the edge of the sword before Barak; and Sisera alighted from his chariot and fled away on foot. 16.   But Barak pursued the chariots and the army as far as Harosheth Hagoyim, and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; not a man was left. 17.   However, Sisera had fled away on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite; for there was peace between Jabin king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite. 18.   And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said to him, "Turn aside, my lord, turn aside to me; do not fear." And when he had turned aside with her into the tent, she covered him with a blanket. 19.   Then he said to her, "Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty." So she opened a jug of milk, gave him a drink, and covered him. 20.   And he said to her, "Stand at the door of the tent, and if any man comes and inquires of you, and says, ‘Is there any man here?’ you shall say, ‘No.’" 21.   Then Jael, Heber’s wife, took a tent peg and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple, and it went down into the ground; for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died. 22.   And then, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said to him, "Come, I will show you the man whom you seek." And when he went into her tent , there lay Sisera, dead with the peg in his temple. 23.   So on that day God subdued Jabin king of Canaan in the presence of the children of Israel. 24.   And the hand of the children of Israel grew stronger and stronger against Jabin king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.

YES 46

1.   Bel bows down, Nebo stoops; Their idols were on the beasts and on the cattle. Your carriages were heavily loaded, A burden to the weary beast . 2.   They stoop, they bow down together; They could not deliver the burden, But have themselves gone into captivity. 3.   "Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, And all the remnant of the house of Israel, Who have been upheld by Me from birth, Who have been carried from the womb: 4.   Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you ! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you . 5.   "To whom will you liken Me, and make Me equal And compare Me, that we should be alike? 6.   They lavish gold out of the bag, And weigh silver on the scales; They hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god; They prostrate themselves, yes, they worship. 7.   They bear it on the shoulder, they carry it And set it in its place, and it stands; From its place it shall not move. Though one cries out to it, yet it cannot answer Nor save him out of his trouble. 8.   "Remember this, and show yourselves men; Recall to mind, O you transgressors. 9.   Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, 10.   Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’ 11.   Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man who executes My counsel, from a far country. Indeed I have spoken it ; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it ; I will also do it. 12.   "Listen to Me, you stubborn–hearted, Who are far from righteousness: 13.   I bring My righteousness near, it shall not be far off; My salvation shall not linger. And I will place salvation in Zion, For Israel My glory.

FLP 2

1.   Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2.   fulfill my joy by being like–minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3.   Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4.   Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. 5.   Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6.   who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7.   but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8.   And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9.   Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10.   that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11.   and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 12.   Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13.   for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. 14.   Do all things without complaining and disputing, 15.   that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16.   holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. 17.   Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18.   For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me. 19.   But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state. 20.   For I have no one like–minded, who will sincerely care for your state. 21.   For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus. 22.   But you know his proven character, that as a son with his father he served with me in the gospel. 23.   Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it goes with me. 24.   But I trust in the Lord that I myself shall also come shortly. 25.   Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, but your messenger and the one who ministered to my need; 26.   since he was longing for you all, and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick. 27.   For indeed he was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. 28.   Therefore I sent him the more eagerly, that when you see him again you may rejoice, and I may be less sorrowful. 29.   Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such men in esteem; 30.   because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.
