YOS 24
YES 42
EF 5:1-21

YOS 24

1.   Then Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and called for the elders of Israel, for their heads, for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God. 2.   And Joshua said to all the people, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘Your fathers, including Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor, dwelt on the other side of the River in old times; and they served other gods. 3.   ‘Then I took your father Abraham from the other side of the River, led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants and gave him Isaac. 4.   ‘To Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. To Esau I gave the mountains of Seir to possess, but Jacob and his children went down to Egypt. 5.   ‘Also I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to what I did among them. Afterward I brought you out. 6.   ‘Then I brought your fathers out of Egypt, and you came to the sea; and the Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen to the Red Sea. 7.   ‘So they cried out to the LORD; and He put darkness between you and the Egyptians, brought the sea upon them, and covered them. And your eyes saw what I did in Egypt. Then you dwelt in the wilderness a long time. 8.   ‘And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, who dwelt on the other side of the Jordan, and they fought with you. But I gave them into your hand, that you might possess their land, and I destroyed them from before you. 9.   ‘Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose to make war against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you. 10.   ‘But I would not listen to Balaam; therefore he continued to bless you. So I delivered you out of his hand. 11.   ‘Then you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho. And the men of Jericho fought against you–– also the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. But I delivered them into your hand. 12.   ‘I sent the hornet before you which drove them out from before you, also the two kings of the Amorites, but not with your sword or with your bow. 13.   ‘I have given you a land for which you did not labor, and cities which you did not build, and you dwell in them; you eat of the vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.’ 14.   "Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! 15.   "And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." 16.   So the people answered and said: "Far be it from us that we should forsake the LORD to serve other gods; 17.   "for the LORD our God is He who brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, who did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way that we went and among all the people through whom we passed. 18.   "And the LORD drove out from before us all the people, including the Amorites who dwelt in the land. We also will serve the LORD, for He is our God." 19.   But Joshua said to the people, "You cannot serve the LORD, for He is a holy God. He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. 20.   "If you forsake the LORD and serve foreign gods, then He will turn and do you harm and consume you, after He has done you good." 21.   And the people said to Joshua, "No, but we will serve the LORD!" 22.   So Joshua said to the people, "You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the LORD for yourselves, to serve Him." And they said, " We are witnesses!" 23.   "Now therefore," he said , "put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the LORD God of Israel." 24.   And the people said to Joshua, "The LORD our God we will serve, and His voice we will obey!" 25.   So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and made for them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem. 26.   Then Joshua wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. And he took a large stone, and set it up there under the oak that was by the sanctuary of the LORD. 27.   And Joshua said to all the people, "Behold, this stone shall be a witness to us, for it has heard all the words of the LORD which He spoke to us. It shall therefore be a witness to you, lest you deny your God." 28.   So Joshua let the people depart, each to his own inheritance. 29.   Now it came to pass after these things that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being one hundred and ten years old. 30.   And they buried him within the border of his inheritance at Timnath Serah, which is in the mountains of Ephraim, on the north side of Mount Gaash. 31.   Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had known all the works of the LORD which He had done for Israel. 32.   The bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel had brought up out of Egypt, they buried at Shechem, in the plot of ground which Jacob had bought from the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for one hundred pieces of silver, and which had become an inheritance of the children of Joseph. 33.   And Eleazar the son of Aaron died. They buried him in a hill belonging to Phinehas his son, which was given to him in the mountains of Ephraim.

YES 42

1.   "Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles. 2.   He will not cry out, nor raise His voice , Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street. 3.   A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth. 4.   He will not fail nor be discouraged, Till He has established justice in the earth; And the coastlands shall wait for His law." 5.   Thus says God the LORD, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk on it: 6.   "I, the LORD, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles, 7.   To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the prison, Those who sit in darkness from the prison house. 8.   I am the LORD, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images. 9.   Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them." 10.   Sing to the LORD a new song, And His praise from the ends of the earth, You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, You coastlands and you inhabitants of them! 11.   Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice , The villages that Kedar inhabits. Let the inhabitants of Sela sing, Let them shout from the top of the mountains. 12.   Let them give glory to the LORD, And declare His praise in the coastlands. 13.   The LORD shall go forth like a mighty man; He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war. He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud; He shall prevail against His enemies. 14.   "I have held My peace a long time, I have been still and restrained Myself. Now I will cry like a woman in labor, I will pant and gasp at once. 15.   I will lay waste the mountains and hills, And dry up all their vegetation; I will make the rivers coastlands, And I will dry up the pools. 16.   I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, And crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, And not forsake them. 17.   They shall be turned back, They shall be greatly ashamed, Who trust in carved images, Who say to the molded images, ‘You are our gods.’ 18.   "Hear, you deaf; And look, you blind, that you may see. 19.   Who is blind but My servant, Or deaf as My messenger whom I send? Who is blind as he who is perfect, And blind as the LORD’S servant? 20.   Seeing many things, but you do not observe; Opening the ears, but he does not hear." 21.   The LORD is well pleased for His righteousness’ sake; He will exalt the law and make it honorable. 22.   But this is a people robbed and plundered; All of them are snared in holes, And they are hidden in prison houses; They are for prey, and no one delivers; For plunder, and no one says, "Restore!" 23.   Who among you will give ear to this? Who will listen and hear for the time to come? 24.   Who gave Jacob for plunder, and Israel to the robbers? Was it not the LORD, He against whom we have sinned? For they would not walk in His ways, Nor were they obedient to His law. 25.   Therefore He has poured on him the fury of His anger And the strength of battle; It has set him on fire all around, Yet he did not know; And it burned him, Yet he did not take it to heart.

EF 5 1-21

1.   Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2.   And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet–smelling aroma. 3.   But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 4.   neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5.   For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6.   Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7.   Therefore do not be partakers with them. 8.   For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9.   (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10.   finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11.   And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them . 12.   For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 13.   But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14.   Therefore He says: "Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light." 15.   See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16.   redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17.   Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is . 18.   And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19.   speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20.   giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21.   submitting to one another in the fear of God.
