2RAJ 14
YEH 37
YOH 1:29-51

2RAJ 14

1.   In the second year of Joash the son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, became king. 2.   He was twenty–five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty–nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem. 3.   And he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like his father David; he did everything as his father Joash had done. 4.   However the high places were not taken away, and the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places. 5.   Now it happened, as soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, that he executed his servants who had murdered his father the king. 6.   But the children of the murderers he did not execute, according to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, in which the LORD commanded, saying, "Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their fathers; but a person shall be put to death for his own sin." 7.   He killed ten thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt, and took Sela by war, and called its name Joktheel to this day. 8.   Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, "Come, let us face one another in battle ." 9.   And Jehoash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, "The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son as wife’; and a wild beast that was in Lebanon passed by and trampled the thistle. 10.   "You have indeed defeated Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Glory in that , and stay at home; for why should you meddle with trouble so that you fall––you and Judah with you?" 11.   But Amaziah would not heed. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went out; so he and Amaziah king of Judah faced one another at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah. 12.   And Judah was defeated by Israel, and every man fled to his tent. 13.   Then Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash, the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh; and he went to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Gate of Ephraim to the Corner Gate––four hundred cubits. 14.   And he took all the gold and silver, all the articles that were found in the house of the LORD and in the treasuries of the king’s house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria. 15.   Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did––his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah–– are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 16.   So Jehoash rested with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel. Then Jeroboam his son reigned in his place. 17.   Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, lived fifteen years after the death of Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel. 18.   Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 19.   And they formed a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there. 20.   Then they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the City of David. 21.   And all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah. 22.   He built Elath and restored it to Judah, after the king rested with his fathers. 23.   In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, became king in Samaria, and reigned forty–one years. 24.   And he did evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin. 25.   He restored the territory of Israel from the entrance of Hamath to the Sea of the Arabah, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which He had spoken through His servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet who was from Gath Hepher. 26.   For the LORD saw that the affliction of Israel was very bitter; and whether bond or free, there was no helper for Israel. 27.   And the LORD did not say that He would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven; but He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash. 28.   Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did––his might, how he made war, and how he recaptured for Israel, from Damascus and Hamath, what had belonged to Judah–– are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 29.   So Jeroboam rested with his fathers, the kings of Israel. Then Zechariah his son reigned in his place.

YEH 37

1.   The hand of the LORD came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. 2.   Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry. 3.   And He said to me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" So I answered, "O Lord GOD, You know." 4.   Again He said to me, "Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! 5.   ‘Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: "Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. 6.   "I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the LORD."’" 7.   So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8.   Indeed, as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but there was no breath in them. 9.   Also He said to me, "Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: "Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live."’" 10.   So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army. 11.   Then He said to me, "Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, ‘Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!’ 12.   "Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13.   "Then you shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. 14.   "I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken it and performed it ," says the LORD.’" 15.   Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 16.   "As for you, son of man, take a stick for yourself and write on it: ‘For Judah and for the children of Israel, his companions.’ Then take another stick and write on it, ‘For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel, his companions.’ 17.   "Then join them one to another for yourself into one stick, and they will become one in your hand. 18.   "And when the children of your people speak to you, saying, ‘Will you not show us what you mean by these?’ –– 19.   "say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: "Surely I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his companions; and I will join them with it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they will be one in My hand."’ 20.   "And the sticks on which you write will be in your hand before their eyes. 21.   "Then say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: "Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; 22.   "and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again. 23.   "They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God. 24.   "David My servant shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them. 25.   "Then they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell there, they, their children, and their children’s children, forever; and My servant David shall be their prince forever. 26.   "Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore. 27.   "My tabernacle also shall be with them; indeed I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 28.   "The nations also will know that I, the LORD, sanctify Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forevermore."’"

YOH 1 29-51

29.   The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30.   "This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ 31.   "I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water." 32.   And John bore witness, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. 33.   "I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34.   "And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God." 35.   Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples. 36.   And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, "Behold the Lamb of God!" 37.   The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. 38.   Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, "What do you seek? " They said to Him, "Rabbi" (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), "where are You staying?" 39.   He said to them, "Come and see." They came and saw where He was staying, and remained with Him that day (now it was about the tenth hour). 40.   One of the two who heard John speak , and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41.   He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which is translated, the Christ). 42.   And he brought him to Jesus. Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, "You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas" (which is translated, A Stone). 43.   The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, "Follow Me." 44.   Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45.   Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote––Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." 46.   And Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see." 47.   Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!" 48.   Nathanael said to Him, "How do You know me?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you." 49.   Nathanael answered and said to Him, "Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!" 50.   Jesus answered and said to him, "Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these." 51.   And He said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man."
