KIS 8:26-40

KEL 23

1.   "You shall not circulate a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness. 2.   "You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice . 3.   "You shall not show partiality to a poor man in his dispute. 4.   "If you meet your enemy’s ox or his donkey going astray, you shall surely bring it back to him again. 5.   "If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying under its burden, and you would refrain from helping it, you shall surely help him with it. 6.   "You shall not pervert the judgment of your poor in his dispute. 7.   "Keep yourself far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked. 8.   "And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the discerning and perverts the words of the righteous. 9.   "Also you shall not oppress a stranger, for you know the heart of a stranger, because you were strangers in the land of Egypt. 10.   "Six years you shall sow your land and gather in its produce, 11.   "but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave, the beasts of the field may eat. In like manner you shall do with your vineyard and your olive grove. 12.   "Six days you shall do your work, and on the seventh day you shall rest, that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female servant and the stranger may be refreshed. 13.   "And in all that I have said to you, be circumspect and make no mention of the name of other gods, nor let it be heard from your mouth. 14.   "Three times you shall keep a feast to Me in the year: 15.   "You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread (you shall eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt; none shall appear before Me empty); 16.   "and the Feast of Harvest, the firstfruits of your labors which you have sown in the field; and the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you have gathered in the fruit of your labors from the field. 17.   "Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the Lord GOD. 18.   "You shall not offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavened bread; nor shall the fat of My sacrifice remain until morning. 19.   "The first of the firstfruits of your land you shall bring into the house of the LORD your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk. 20.   "Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. 21.   "Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name is in Him. 22.   "But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries. 23.   "For My Angel will go before you and bring you in to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites and the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will cut them off. 24.   "You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works; but you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred pillars. 25.   "So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. 26.   "No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days. 27.   "I will send My fear before you, I will cause confusion among all the people to whom you come, and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. 28.   "And I will send hornets before you, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before you. 29.   "I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the beast of the field become too numerous for you. 30.   "Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land. 31.   "And I will set your bounds from the Red Sea to the sea, Philistia, and from the desert to the River. For I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you. 32.   "You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. 33.   "They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you."

1.   <> My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning? 2.   O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear; And in the night season, and am not silent. 3.   But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel. 4.   Our fathers trusted in You; They trusted, and You delivered them. 5.   They cried to You, and were delivered; They trusted in You, and were not ashamed. 6.   But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people. 7.   All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying , 8.   "He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!" 9.   But You are He who took Me out of the womb; You made Me trust while on My mother’s breasts. 10.   I was cast upon You from birth. From My mother’s womb You have been My God. 11.   Be not far from Me, For trouble is near; For there is none to help. 12.   Many bulls have surrounded Me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me. 13.   They gape at Me with their mouths, Like a raging and roaring lion. 14.   I am poured out like water, And all My bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It has melted within Me. 15.   My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And My tongue clings to My jaws; You have brought Me to the dust of death. 16.   For dogs have surrounded Me; The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands and My feet; 17.   I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me. 18.   They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots. 19.   But You, O LORD, do not be far from Me; O My Strength, hasten to help Me! 20.   Deliver Me from the sword, My precious life from the power of the dog. 21.   Save Me from the lion’s mouth And from the horns of the wild oxen! You have answered Me. 22.   I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You. 23.   You who fear the LORD, praise Him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him, And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel! 24.   For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from Him; But when He cried to Him, He heard. 25.   My praise shall be of You in the great assembly; I will pay My vows before those who fear Him. 26.   The poor shall eat and be satisfied; Those who seek Him will praise the LORD. Let your heart live forever! 27.   All the ends of the world Shall remember and turn to the LORD, And all the families of the nations Shall worship before You. 28.   For the kingdom is the LORD’S, And He rules over the nations. 29.   All the prosperous of the earth Shall eat and worship; All those who go down to the dust Shall bow before Him, Even he who cannot keep himself alive. 30.   A posterity shall serve Him. It will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation, 31.   They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born, That He has done this .

KIS 8 26-40

26.   Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, "Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." This is desert. 27.   So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, 28.   was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. 29.   Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go near and overtake this chariot." 30.   So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?" 31.   And he said, "How can I, unless someone guides me?" And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him. 32.   The place in the Scripture which he read was this: "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth. 33.   In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth." 34.   So the eunuch answered Philip and said, "I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?" 35.   Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. 36.   Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?" 37.   Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." 38.   So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. 39.   Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. 40.   But Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea.
