King James Version
1. Then came the daughters of Zelophehad the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, from the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph; and these were the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. 2. And they stood before Moses, before Eleazar the priest, and before the leaders and all the congregation, by the doorway of the tabernacle of meeting, saying: 3. "Our father died in the wilderness; but he was not in the company of those who gathered together against the LORD, in company with Korah, but he died in his own sin; and he had no sons. 4. "Why should the name of our father be removed from among his family because he had no son? Give us a possession among our father’s brothers." 5. So Moses brought their case before the LORD. 6. And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 7. "The daughters of Zelophehad speak what is right; you shall surely give them a possession of inheritance among their father’s brothers, and cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them. 8. "And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘If a man dies and has no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter. 9. ‘If he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers. 10. ‘If he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers. 11. ‘And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to the relative closest him in his family, and he shall possess it.’" And it shall be to the children of Israel a statute of judgment, just as the LORD commanded Moses. 12. Now the LORD said to Moses: "Go up into this Mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the children of Israel. 13. "And when you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was gathered. 14. "For in the Wilderness of Zin, during the strife of the congregation, you rebelled against My command to hallow Me at the waters before their eyes." (These are the waters of Meribah, at Kadesh in the Wilderness of Zin.) 15. Then Moses spoke to the LORD, saying: 16. "Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, 17. "who may go out before them and go in before them, who may lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the LORD may not be like sheep which have no shepherd." 18. And the LORD said to Moses: "Take Joshua the son of Nun with you, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him; 19. "set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and inaugurate him in their sight. 20. "And you shall give some of your authority to him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient. 21. "He shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire before the LORD for him by the judgment of the Urim. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, he and all the children of Israel with him––all the congregation." 22. So Moses did as the LORD commanded him. He took Joshua and set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation. 23. And he laid his hands on him and inaugurated him, just as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
1. Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2. "Command the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘My offering, My food for My offerings made by fire as a sweet aroma to Me, you shall be careful to offer to Me at their appointed time.’ 3. "And you shall say to them, ‘This is the offering made by fire which you shall offer to the LORD: two male lambs in their first year without blemish, day by day, as a regular burnt offering. 4. ‘The one lamb you shall offer in the morning, the other lamb you shall offer in the evening, 5. ‘and one–tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering mixed with one–fourth of a hin of pressed oil. 6. ‘ It is a regular burnt offering which was ordained at Mount Sinai for a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD. 7. ‘And its drink offering shall be one–fourth of a hin for each lamb; in a holy place you shall pour out the drink to the LORD as an offering. 8. ‘The other lamb you shall offer in the evening; as the morning grain offering and its drink offering, you shall offer it as an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the LORD. 9. ‘And on the Sabbath day two lambs in their first year, without blemish, and two–tenths of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with oil, with its drink offering–– 10. ‘ this is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, besides the regular burnt offering with its drink offering. 11. ‘At the beginnings of your months you shall present a burnt offering to the LORD: two young bulls, one ram, and seven lambs in their first year, without blemish; 12. ‘three–tenths of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with oil, for each bull; two–tenths of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with oil, for the one ram; 13. ‘and one–tenth of an ephah of fine flour, mixed with oil, as a grain offering for each lamb, as a burnt offering of sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD. 14. ‘Their drink offering shall be half a hin of wine for a bull, one–third of a hin for a ram, and one–fourth of a hin for a lamb; this is the burnt offering for each month throughout the months of the year. 15. ‘Also one kid of the goats as a sin offering to the LORD shall be offered, besides the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.
1. The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes a glad father, But a foolish son is the grief of his mother. 2. Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, But righteousness delivers from death. 3. The LORD will not allow the righteous soul to famish, But He casts away the desire of the wicked. 4. He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich. 5. He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame. 6. Blessings are on the head of the righteous, But violence covers the mouth of the wicked. 7. The memory of the righteous is blessed, But the name of the wicked will rot. 8. The wise in heart will receive commands, But a prating fool will fall. 9. He who walks with integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will become known. 10. He who winks with the eye causes trouble, But a prating fool will fall. 11. The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, But violence covers the mouth of the wicked. 12. Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins. 13. Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding, But a rod is for the back of him who is devoid of understanding. 14. Wise people store up knowledge, But the mouth of the foolish is near destruction. 15. The rich man’s wealth is his strong city; The destruction of the poor is their poverty. 16. The labor of the righteous leads to life, The wages of the wicked to sin. 17. He who keeps instruction is in the way of life, But he who refuses correction goes astray. 18. Whoever hides hatred has lying lips, And whoever spreads slander is a fool. 19. In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise. 20. The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; The heart of the wicked is worth little. 21. The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of wisdom. 22. The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it. 23. To do evil is like sport to a fool, But a man of understanding has wisdom. 24. The fear of the wicked will come upon him, And the desire of the righteous will be granted. 25. When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more , But the righteous has an everlasting foundation. 26. As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy man to those who send him. 27. The fear of the LORD prolongs days, But the years of the wicked will be shortened. 28. The hope of the righteous will be gladness, But the expectation of the wicked will perish. 29. The way of the LORD is strength for the upright, But destruction will come to the workers of iniquity. 30. The righteous will never be removed, But the wicked will not inhabit the earth. 31. The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, But the perverse tongue will be cut out. 32. The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.
20. Brethren, do not be children in understanding; however, in malice be babes, but in understanding be mature. 21. In the law it is written: "With men of other tongues and other lips I will speak to this people; And yet, for all that, they will not hear Me," says the Lord. 22. Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophesying is not for unbelievers but for those who believe. 23. Therefore if the whole church comes together in one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those who are uninformed or unbelievers, will they not say that you are out of your mind? 24. But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all. 25. And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you. 26. How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. 27. If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. 28. But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God. 29. Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. 30. But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent. 31. For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. 32. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33. For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. 34. Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. 35. And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church. 36. Or did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it you only that it reached? 37. If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. 38. But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant. 39. Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. 40. Let all things be done decently and in order.
